Doubt you'll get anymore hits b/c it seemed like only a few people had the Draxas setup.

yea but maybe someone might know of a good spot to get the resonator from. Anything good 14-24inches.

well - I had some time today and im very very happy that I did. I finally went to an exhaust shop to get a quote on the resonator. They put my car up on the lift and found out - first - there were 2 small leaks in my exhaust. 2 darn leaks. Secondly - because of ground clearance I didnt want it mounted toward the back of the car because I dont want to slam the resonator if i hit something.

What I had done:
I had a 12inch resonator installed, 2 new gaskets w/ sealer, and ended up with A LOT quieter car. I really was leary about how much a 12inch resonator could do - well I now have my answer. The car rides even nicer now, shifts nicer, behaves nicer, and sounds nicer. Just wanted to give you guys the 411.

When i was getting my resonator done the muffler guy said that because the muffler isnt getting full w/ air its making the car a lot louder - he said that if they cut the tip off - replace it with a 1/2 inch smaller pipe - then put the tip back on - it will reduce the noise a lot. Anybody think this would be a huge performance decrease? Im onderinf if it will be because im running 2 1/2 inch pipe all the way back and its less then 250whp - thats not much.

What he is suggesting is exactly what a resonator does, just in a smaller scale. He's going to shrink the exiting piping to slow the velocity of the exhaust. This reduces noise/rasp b/c it acts as a small resonator. Honest, just removing that 1.5 foot section or our tip and shrinking it .5 inches will do absolutely nothing. It's too far at the end of the exhaust system to do anything at all. Following his theory, that means that going to Autozone and buying a tip for your car will make it louder too. Tips have almost, and basically, nothing to do with noise reduction and performance. It's just for looks.

Right - but eventhough its at the end the air can only exit the pipe slower and fill the pipes better (maybe - i dunno yet).

In theory and absolute perfect conditions, yes................any other time, which is basically every other time, it's negligable. .5" at the very end isn't enough to change almost anything in exhaust velocity. If that .5 was further up, near the CAT or header, then it would effect the flow b/c it has longer to travel which allows it to build up more pressure.
