Hi! My steering wheel rattles after replacing stock wheels to 18".. I'm a newbie.. Any suggestion?

Sounds like the balance is incorrect or not done at all !

If they were they may have just missed the setup a little.

Is it at high speed or a certain speed ?

Yeah the xB wheels are hubcentric not lugcentric........If you didn't get them like i did when you bought the wheels that's the problem for sure.......If you did and the wheels are out as mine were i had them redone locally and then back billed the wheel and tire web seller and they paid to correct the problem, they said they forgot to send the hubcentric rings for my wheels when they shipped them......man did that car shake !!

i noticed it when i'm @ 50mph.. the higher the speed the stronger the rattle is... / So wheel balancing is recommended?

i get it in a local shop/ $15
since every set of wheels have diferent hub sizes
take the car to any local tires shop

when hasnt it been? if it wasnt, get it done.

pull the wheel and look in the back of the center hole or on the hub itself and see if there is a round ring, black in color usually if not present the hub rings are part or all of the problem......if the rings are there.....Try a well known shop that can do the machine spin balance and have them done. if you purchased the wheels online already mounted balanced ect.....and they shipped them that way they may pay the bill as the company i delt with did..........and oh yeah they didn't send my rings originally and then they did after calling at no cost either......i lucked out........I love Wheelz1.com....they are terrific !!!

First and foremost, go and get them balanced.

While you're there, ask them to check and make sure that you have HUBCENTRIC RINGS. The rings center the wheel on your hubs to increase stability and help prevent vibration. If they give you a choice of metal or plastic rings, I'd take metal. The plastic can melt and stick to the hub/wheel.

I'd bet it's the HubCentric rings, too.

Wow! Call me stupid... but this is the first time I've ever heard about these...

My steering wheel gets really shaky when I go about 65/70+ MPH. I thought that that was just a consequence of larger rims... I think I'm going to invest in some of these.

Are there particular types/brands that yah would recommend?

they are all generic really. if there is a discounttire around you, I am pretty sure they sell them. If not, there are a few places online you can email and see if they have the specs on your wheel. xA/xB have a stock center bore of 54.1mm, and aftermarket wheels are generally 13-19mm larger bore than that. www.1010tires.com sells them I think, check them out.
