Default Engine Management

First of all, I hope I posted this under the right category. If not, I apologize then.

I have an auto tC with Injen CAI and exhaust. I have been reading about the improvements gained from using a piggy-back or a full replacement ECU in other cars out there.

My question is, what is a good piggy-back ECU (or full replacement ECU) for tC's, especially on my performance mods? Also on this note, will there be any benefit from getting larger cc fuel injectors along with the ECU upgrade?

Thanks!

ive got the unichip. just got it cause it was a good price(parting out) and i wanna go boost sooner or later. you will see small gains, nothing phenomenal. as for the injectors no use... yeah youll be dumping more fuel into ur engine BUT the same amount of air is still going in. you need more air(forced induction) to make good use of the extra gas.

e-manage is more cost-effective, since you don't have to pay overprice tuners with the unichip. What are you looking at? N/A or F/I?

unichip comes pre-mapped with 2 programs. you could get it dyno tuned if you want but i havent gotten around to it. plus unichip is plug and play, no splicing wires. yeah you save a few hundred on the greddy but if you want the plug and play harness youre gonna have to cough up some bucks

Default N/A or F/I

I am just going to keep it N/A until I have the money to get a Ferrari Anyway, I need info on ECU because I am about to get the MMW header and a ZPI midpipe. And in my noob mind, I was thinking that since the engine will be able to breathe better, then dumping more fuel should improve its performance. Ok, so I guess larger injectors are useless. So that leaves me with high-compression pistons and/or a head job.

Yes but the money you just "saved" you will have to pay to the OVERPRICE-dealer-authorized-by-Unichip tuner. Those 2 maps are for F/I and this thread being in " Scion tC Drivetrain & Power" I think he was talking about EMS in an N/A setting. At least I saw it like that, because he didn't specify in his first post.

Ain't more people qualified to tune e-manage than Unichip in the USA?

technically yes. but i wouldnt take it to just any tuner. id take it somewher reputable to get tuned. many places that are reputable also do unichip. in the cases they arent certified they still know how to tune it. i know of a few people who can tune unichips and arent certified

Unichip tuning is not overpriced... Its the same as any other, in the Northeast there is quite a few Unichip Tuners..

Yes, I started this topic in the light of keeping my car N/A. Simply put, I am curious about the potential of this engine if the ECU is replaced or piggy-backed (if there's such a term lol).

Anyway, I read Unichip's application guide (Page 12) and didn't find the map for CAI+header+Cat/B. I guess I have to take it to a certified Unichip tuner then (list... anyone?)

E-Manage seems to be a good option too. Its the friggin' PnP harness that makes me wonder why they have to charge that much for a bunch of wires and few plastic connectors. Unless they made the wires in gold.

Yes? Then how come the e-manageI found costs $265, NEEWW. Last I heard the P&P does not cost $550+.... So is still cheaper than the unichip.

you are in luck:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...light=ultimate

...emanage ultimate and pnp harness ...which means you can plug it in w/o cutting any of the 100+ wires.
