i love my kit, its 5000k and it doesnt really look like i have an HID kit.. kinda looks like hyperwhites when you look at them, but they light up real good.

and the sidemarkers stayin on all the time are perfectly fine.. the blue is illegal tho

oznium.com
i got 6000K and i love them! plug and play.
didnt come with instructions, but it was easy to figure out for the most part. normal price is like 238 shipped. all you need is a little patience and some shrinkwrap for the connections.

and i still have my stock housings

i definitly will not get those kits
(btw prolumens kits had problems with cars who had HID standard or an option. Their bulbs flickers as they are warming up compared to their oem kits. The flickers were about 10 seconds at warmup and they believe that this is the reason why their prolumen bulbs have a short lifespan)
Probably go with a rebased oem bulb like philips and an oem ballast.

any colored bulbs besides OEM are illegal in all states (if not, then most). In some states, cops are more ****, and in some states they are more into sitting at a donut shop

*edit*
Okay i googled prolumens and read some more posts from other forums and in the end i got they sucked
Here's one cached forum post from clubrsx's forums (for some reason i think their forum is screwy, didn't load for me today, had to access it through google cache)

ok i really dont care about the legal fact on the HID's...

why? because my brother put some off-road HID's that they use for buggy's in his headlights on his truck, they are like 3 times brighter than any OEM HID...... did he ever get pulled over for it? no.

thanks for all the info though guys

the light output will look like ____ and be very scartterd in your stock housing and probably melt them also. at the very least get a set of projectors with a clear lense so you arnt blinding on coming drivers. You need to respect there lives just as much as your own..and tell your brother that too since he thinks its cool to blind ppl.

Now you say
ok i really dont care about the legal fact on the HID's...
but please look back on what i said
ok i really dont care about the legal fact on the HID's...
that is what i refered to illegal, was not talking about the HIDs

I already know u don't care about HIDs illegally instealled in your halogen housing
but do you? Im not sure what type of headlights your bro has, but if it was halogen based, then that is why it's 3 times brigther

sometimes i'ts not about brightness, it's about how the lights are projected. Lights are made so you can see in the dark.

maybe you don't care about people in front of you, or if they are on coming traffic drivers, but keep in mind that having bright lights at close range is actually dangerous in weather conditions

if u really don't care, then i wont' care neither
but xenondepot is the way to go

the light ouptut from my stock housing isnt scattered. its very clean and crisp, and has great color.
for safety reasons, i would rather have the road lit up more like stock lighting rather than projector beams. IMO the main reason anyone should consider switching to HID is for safety at night. not because it looks 'cool'.
with projector lights, it has to go through that lens, and that kills the intensity of the color and the light output. i had to lower the aim of the headlights, but thats about it. the beam is hitting right where it should. yes its very bright, but im not blinding people. my G/F was in front of me the other day and she said that it was fine, and she doesnt have any tint on the windows.
just aim the lights lower, and you should be fine.
i have never heard of a reputible HID lighting setup melting a stock housing.

OKAY i might sound like a hypocrite or somthing about the legal part of it all, i was just WONDERING if the sidemarkers were illegal, and in fact they are, but am i going to change them? no. so me worring about the sidemarkers being illegal is tottaly diffrent from the HID's.... so dont compair any of that to my opinion... thank you.

and im not my brother ok? so dont treat me like im him.

thats why i want a lo-hi beam kit instead of just 1 bright setting.... that way im not constantly blinding everyone on the road and making me look like a idiot ricer -_-

and i dont feel like buying aftermarket housings, 1. because i dont even like the look of most of them, and 2. because i dont want to deal with worrying if its a good brand, or the light patters, of if theyre gonna fog on me. and 3. i dont wana spend money on somthing i dont want.

as i think the stock ones look pretty dang good when you take the orange reflecters out of them....

and as for them "melting" i though HID's run cooler than a regular bulb?....

www.oznium.com

I've seen people run HIDs through stock housing for at least a year without melting them.

there is no way HID in the stock housings would even look remotley clean. Show me a car with factory HIDs and refecloters inside the housing. You must not have driven a car with TRUE HIDs before.

oops, i meant to quote this as my 3rd quote
any colored bulbs besides OEM are illegal in all states (if not, then most).
and that was referring to your question about that side bulb

i dunno your brother, so how did i treat you like your brother? I only referenced what you have stated about your brother and his hids

so now everything is squared away

the melting can be caused by various reasons such as cheap material. so HIDs running cooler doesn't matter. They still get hot (you can burn yourself touching a hot HID bulb)

Some aftermarket kits jacks up the power step up with their ballast (also there are people who tweak their ballast to run 60w instead of 35w). that's more heat right there.

Aftermarket companies do not have money to provide full QA checks on their kits. Some people get kits that lasts a month(unlucky) and some last longer. 1 year is a short lifespan for HIDs btw. OEM states that their kits last as long as a car's life span. Good luck choosing your kit. I recommended OEM stuff. xenondepot sells rebased bulbs to fityour housing plus they sell great ballasts

Kiss - i just typed like 3 paragraphs but i decided to delete it LOL
i want to type it right, but im too busy at work

but aiming it lower woudl not help
u will blind people while u goind down hill and someone going up hill
u now lost your distance vision

projectors lense makes a difference when light going through it. Recall a magnafying glass and sunlight used to burn a piece of paper (did it really make it dimmer?)

projectors (good quality ones) actually provides long distance light projection with out blinding oncomming and the driver directly in front of your left headlight

the following link provides how lights are reflected on projectors vs reflective housing

that link was pretty good.

ok, so i guess it doesnt. but IMO projectors for the box dont look all that good, so i didnt pursue them.

yes, i have driven many vehicles with true HIDs.

i have no distance visibility issues with my HIDs. theyre not pointed straight at the ground. they are aimed to where they should be.

none of that matters though.

mis3ry- just pick a kit that you and your bank account feel comfortable with. just be sure you learn about it before committing

as long as it is a few inch lower than how it would have been for using halogen bulbs, then it's fine

i had friends who purchased many hid kits cuz they blow, either ballast goes bad, or bulbs go bad.

ifu want more information on how to decide on when purchasing hid kits, please refer to this link
