Started a new thread aside from my build thread because I need a info quick.
Didn't get enough input, so I've been looking at adding on ARP headstuds to the build, but my installer is looking at ~$400 in labor to the headstuds. He said he has to do more to the head or something to get them in, but the block is already apart.
Does that sound right? I'm just making sure I'm not getting ripped in additional labor when its not needed.
This is how the block is right now, currently at the machine shop.
In my opinion $400 is a little high. In order to fasten the head studs once the head is on the block the cams have to be taken out so that's the extra work he's charging for.

If the motor is apart like you said then I do not see why you would be paying so much just to grt them installed. If I am not mistaken the torque specs should be the same as well. Maybe the price is for parts and labor?
Might be for thread inserts on the head. I heard some ppl talking about the 2AZ having problems with the studs ripping out of (exaggerated) the block. Don't know too much about it personally.
