Default Is it true that 2006 is the last year for the current xB ?

I've heard that the current style (which I really like) will be gone by the end of 2006. Does anyone have any inside information from Toyota or an official confirmation of this ? Everybody already saw the new bB released in Japan, but that does not mean much to the US market. Any thoughts ?

When Scion first came out, it was announeced that each model would have a 3 year shelf life. After that, they would be replaced. Not modified or updated. Replaced. As of yet, I have not heard what the actual plans are, but I hope to learn more later this month.

The 2007 "xB" will be a different car. Most current info is that it will not be called an xB either.

I heard something different, which shows that there has not been anything "official" announced.

I was told there would be an RS 4.0 released at the end of 2006, sold as a 2007 model, and the "new" model wouldn't come out until this time next year, as a 2008 model. It would be a mid year release, similar to what they did when they released the Matrix a few years ago (released 02.02.02).

Sounds like there is lots of speculation, but nothing concrete yet.

I'm torn on the subject. If they keep it for 1 more year that will mean more parts cars for future use. But that also means more xB's on the road right now. I knda hope it goes bye bye after the 06' model run.

*cough* the Scion reps that came down last week talked to us about it. The xB will not be produced anymore after 2006. The 2007 replacement will be the equivalent of the t2B. The name is really unknown right now, but they said it could be t2B, b2B, or some others.*cough*

I would rather see the xA be replaced by the t2B, but i guess they are the guys that research it and know what its all about.

Later.

Take this for what it's worth: My local dealer said that yes the 2006 model year is the last year for the current body. In July the new 2007 xB will debut but he did not say whether it will be renamed.

This is what I mean about the information...mine was from Scion reps also. Every region hears different information...

Has anyone considered that Toyota might float different info in different places on purpose for at least a couple of reasons?
(1) It conceals their actual plans and gives them more slack to make changes in those plans due to market needs and (2) it gives them customer/dealer feedback about how those different 'possibilities' play so they can adjust them...

i've got a 2k6.

I'm not sure whether I should be glad or sad if it's the last year.

Seems like it would hurt the resale value.

Maybe on purpose, but also, big companies can get a little confused themselves when it comes to making decisions.,

Tomas, you are absolutely right! In my 11 years with Toyota/Scion, I have seen this happen countless times. I am sure we will know the correct information, when they are ready for it to be known!!

Any idea if 2006 is the last year for the xA?

I know of no plans to get rid of the xA, and I haven't seen any other possible concept cars that would replace it. My guess would be they keep it for another year and then debut a new vehicle in its place in 2008, but because Scion has very little history, we do not know the patterns that they will or will not follow. Like MNScion said, we will all know when they want us to know.

Later.
