the transmission is mostly the same parts so im sure it holds up the same as a 5spd. Do you really think toyota redesigned the ENTIRE transmission to add 1 gear? Im sure some things are different as they would have to be but im sure a lot of it is the same.

nah man thats why i don't think this mod will take off.

Kareem - if you could test this on a DD car making 400hp i think you'd see better sales as of right now you're saying "pay a few grand to get what you already have but 1 extra gear" atleast thats what it feels like to me. i'm not saying it's a bad product or anything it just seems that this isnt an upgrade.

edit - also there havent been any photos of it installed so we can see the fit and finish. sure it's just a transmission but i know i want to see it and how the shifter cage sits and what mods have to be done to the console if any.

Limited pictures because because the car doesn't belong to us. If you ask I'm sure the owner would post more.

As for testing this in a higher HP street car...we are! In a few days we'll be testing our tC2 at 30psi which we estimate will be somewhere around 650WHP...besides that the Greddy tC2 has been time attack racing their tC2 6 speed gearbox at 500+whp no problem.

The parts number for gears 1-5 are exactly the same also it may not be worht it to even switch to the 6speed for some cuz being that it is mostly the same tranny it holds up to about the same power ratin so if its gonna break the same then whats the point now if it would hold alot more power then u would see alot more ppl jumping on it. In addition to all of that there is alot of work that needs to be done for jus an extra gear u know. Its also goin to b how long it last at a high output power too ijs

We don't have that many pictures of the car but Kareem posted some back on page 12 a month ago if you'd like to look through them.

As for the shifter assemble and cables... they bolt right in with no modification required

i completley missed page 12 i guess.

i kick the idea around buying it every now and again. if the part numbers for 1-5 are the same i might try putting this tc's synchros in my 5 speed to see if it works. i have a spare tranny now no harm in trying if the part numbers are the same.

Rob/kareem/All,

Just wanted to let y'all know I have had zero issues with the 6speed y'all dropped in my ride, I have almost 2500 miles on it so far and she is just smooth. Its just hard for me to keep my foot out of the gas because that lsd y'all also installed is what the tc should have come with standard. Still haven't made up my mind if I wanted to add anymore power but I do want those brakes. I will try and give y'all a call this week and put in my order for them.

As for the shifter cage for the 6speed, it dropped right in using the old mounting points from the 5 speed. Now keep in mind I still haven't installed my console but so far there has been no modification and I don't anticipate any.

I will try and post some photos of the finished product in my tc but please keep in mind its all mounted and you really wont be able to see a whole lot except for the new mounting brackets and six speed shifter cage. You might have better luck looking back on page 12 when photos of the engine/transmission were out of the car.

Without limiter does the 6spd have higher topspeed capability then 5spd?
