BREUKELEN – June 23, 2008: A very memorable moment for all the super car fans: the production of the ZR1 has started at the Bowling Green factory. And the good news for Europe, just a few months patience and the launch is a fact. Only fifty of this ‘Fastest Corvette Ever’ will hit Europe from the US-factory this year.
...the production of the ZR1 has been stopped until Aug. 19 due to a problem with the carbon fiber hood, and hood window.

Well if that's the case, I guess Ferrari and Lambo will never produce cars ever again.

Btw, I've looked all over Corvette forums, and haven't even seen the slightest information regarding a complete production cancellation and those are the people who would discuss that the most. The only issue they're having with it, is with hood fitment, the hood window (which might be scrapped because a lot of people don't like it) and something regarding the carpet in the rear. And that stuff at most, is delaying the car.

detailing the used cars on the local auto-mile does not count as "working in the industry"

ironically enough. the GTR Spec-v is delayed.

hmm ...
really? any articles that talk about this? just being a bit skeptical but i don't doubt it. just recently read an article in atlantic magazine, and even bob lutz admitted that chevy sucks. so is the zr1 really dead in the water? or is it just going to be on hiatus like CarbonXe quoted above?

Wait, GM doesn't make a profit? Wow, I didn't know the worlds leading auto maker would intentionally produce vehicles that will net them a loss.

look up the last quarter numbers for all brands.

ford is doing pretty much the worst , and honda is currently beating out toyota for the number one spot right now.

So that's not being immature? Sounds rather hypocritical to me.

Also, if it's in all the auto magazines, that means the news is around 1 month old, which means it would have already been flooding the internet. If I can't go onto google and find A SINGLE article from an acclaimed website in any relation to production stoppage, then I'm not going to believe it.

Directly from Bob Lutz's mouth.

I think anything in high volumes that falls outside of 35 mpg is out of the question. Translation, niche players like Corvette ZR1s and CTS-V have a future, 50,000-plus-selling Camaros and Challengers -- not so much.
