Suzuki is only a "horrible failure" in the U.S. In the rest of the world, its known for making very good small cars. It's just the U.S. that gets shafted. We get the re-badged Daewoos with Suzuki emblems. These are NOT real Suzukis. The Lapin, Wagon R, and Kei are all pretty cool, IMHO. However, we get the Reno, Forenza, and Verona — all rebadged Daewoos. Why? Because yes, GM owns a stake in Suzuki. So, when GM bought Daewoo Motors a few years back, they decided to sell them as Suzukis in the U.S.

I really like the new Swift, but I doubt we'll see it in the U.S., which is a shame IMHO. The old Swift GTis were indeed very cool cars.

When I worked at a car dealer, we got a Chevy Sprint TURBO. Yes, F/I on a 3-banger that weighed in at around 1600 lbs. The most torque-steer I've ever felt. Crappy, tinny construction. When I saw them blow the floorpan in F&F, I thought of this car, hehehe.

The techs in the shop called it "The Atomic Skateboard". It'd squeal the tires thru 3rd just cuz it had more power than traction due to the weight and the engineering.

Looked just like this:

There's a guy here in town with one of these; he's tweaked it to run 13s in the 1/4 mile. I love those little cars. Atomic Skateboard is a good name for them, too!

I grow tired of these. You all think that every car similar to the xB/xA/tC is a copy from Toyota. Its not and a lot of japanese cars are very similar in style. If anything, the american com0panies try to copy the japanese cars all the time but have never succeeded.
