Default Ford Flex looks like a big xB

There was a shot of the 2008 Ford Flex in the local paper today, and I googled it some more. It looks like a big xB 1st Gen. But much bigger, as it has a 3.5L V6, seats 7 and can be AWD.

It would have been nice if Scion had just taken the 1st Gen xB, reworked the front end to look like the Flex, put in the new 2ZR-FE 1.8L engine, and added side airbags.

That pic is of the concept when it was called the Fairlane. The one they announced at the NYIAS a couple days ago looks more like the xB:

The top picture of the Ford Flex looks like a Land Rover Range Rover Sport. It makes sense since Ford owns Land Rover and they can't come up with too many original, appealing designs.

Yes, but if you overlook the size of the thing, and who makes it, the Flex looks more like a 1stGen xB than does the 2nd Gen xB.
And the point is, if the 2nd Gen xB had looked more like the Flex, it would have been a truer style evolution of the 1st Gen xB.
Or stated another way, if the Flex can look more like a 1st Gen xB, then the 2nd Gen xB could have looked more llike the 1st Gen xB.
Of course, to those who think the 1st Gen xB was ugly, the 2nd Gen xB may be beautiful.

I absolutely agree with that statement. I personally don't like the style of the new xB. It lost its uniqueness. Now it blends in with minivans and small SUVs.

Make that a third. Maybe when the 3rd gen comes out....we'll see in a few years.
