come to think of it, I've seen one in Ohio of all places. Maybe I'm crazy, but it sure didn't look like any other Honda

And, just an FYI, I was moments from getting a SI hatchback, but decided last minute I just felt toooo cramped. LOVE how it looked, but my tall frame didn't fit in the cockpit.

i found the point of buying a Scion is to NOT be a honda.
something NEW something with style and a unique name.

i dont disagree that the Si has performance and a style to it, but i bought a Scion so that i dont have to tell people "yea i own a honda civic like every other joe schmo in the US"

when you say "Scion" interest immediatly pops into their mind.

good luck with your new honduh! but i agree, take this to Honduh forums.

197 hp.. still making the same torque as the current Si, heavier than the current Si and has the high compression ratio of 11.1. Well you guys can do the math

Yea, still a few tenths faster in the 1/4 than the tC's best time.

If anyone is feeling stuck with a slow car, the tC will take better to a turbo than an Si. The GReddy turbo for the Type-S only makes about 50 hp or so. VTEC doesn't take kindly to large turbos (surge) nor to small turbos (a LOT of waste once in VTEC.) A twin sequential turbo with VTEC would be awesome but there's no room.

There are other turbo kits doing 100 hp gains and the like so you can go there too. Most of the kits for the K20A are pretty cheap now that they've been in production for so long. So who knows, have at it.

si has more horse power and a extra gear but tc wit a supercharger or turbo will fix the problem becides honda is going to be strict on mods not a tc made to accessorize and still the si is going to be at least 20,000 just not a bang for the buck

its a sweet car, but i think the Si ugly and the v-tec horsepower issue is annoying....to get the car to go you have to buzz it hat high rpm's and that is massively annoying...after a while...

majority of 4 cylinder hp comes from buzzing the rpm up. yes the tc has more tq stock, but how can you disagree with i-Vtec. VVT-i is the same concept. Is it not?

From internet resource:
If you know how VTEC and VVT-i works, you can easily imagine how to combine them into a more powerful VVT mechanism. Honda calls it i-VTEC. Like Toyota's VVTL-i, it provides:

Continuous cam-phasing variable valve timing
2-stage variable valve lift plus valve-opening duration
Can be applied to both intake and exhaust valves

Basically, the camshaft is purely VTEC - with different cam lobes for implementing 2-stage variable lift and timing. On the other hand, the camshaft can be phase-shifted by a hydraulic actuator at the end of the camshaft, so valve timing can be varied continuously according to need.

i-VTEC and VVTL-i are very similar but VTEC and VVT-i aren't even close. I wish Toyota had given the tC VVTL-i like the GT-S Celica, it would have been a better performer. Not saying it isn't a performer now, but there is always room for improvement.

Besides, I'll take high, low-RPM torque over high-RPM HP anyday.

True.....but im the opposite, I'll take high rpm hp. Im sure if honda made the si a 2.4 liter like the tc the tq output on the k20z would be greater. For example the k24 crv motor puts out 160hp@6000 and 162tq@3600. A JDM integra type r k20 puts out 220hp@8000 206tq@7000, but yes the tq output is not low rpm.

Im not trying to argue that honda is better.........both are fairly decent cars. but no matter what car it is there is always gonna be rivalry between the two manufacturers. Like i said before ilove the tc just kinda wished i would've waited for the si instead of getting the tc.........but whats done is done and the tc is a great car. If somehow someway i end up keeping the tc i wouldn't be disappointed.

Where I live, I Can drive for weeks between seeing a tC pass me by. I almost NEVER see an Xa and the Xb's are probably the most common, but still rare enough to not see one every day.

I dont know where you are getting your numbers, but the new si is 190 something hp and 160 something tq.

But i still do like i-vtec, but a civic si? a weaker version of the type s cause acura is getting ride of the type s. I wouldnt purchase something like this.

Also i think there was a reason why they didnt put vvtl-i in the tc. I thought i read somewhere that we can handle boost well, i thought high revving motors...?

Not sure, maybe someone can help me out.

First page of this thread, there is a link to an article by edmunds.

Torque is up to 139 pound-feet at 6,200 rpm.
