Maybe the Honda guys rated the SI lower than the actual to save their sales in the RSX if the RSX is only pumping out 201 hp and without the LSD with a greater drivetrain loss in power.

Maybe. We shall find out for sure once the car actually comes out...I don't want to jump to false conclusions

But nevertheless, if it was rated at 197 SAE hp, it must surely have hp in the range of a type S. Which was my main point..I don't really care if it was under or overrated.

i just test drove the si over the weekend..
at civic live..
oh man! that new si RIPPPPPS! that thing is FAST!
handles awesome.. man.. i drove the coupe ex..
i drove the hybrid accord sedan.. i drove the v6 accord coupe(MT)..

the si was my favorite for spunk and cornering.. it was
just a nice car. ive driven a tC before too.. i think i would
get the si.. it feels more sporty inside and out.

but dont get me wrong, the tc is a nice car. but i would
pick the si.. i've driven both..

Stock Si Vs. stock tC. The Si will win.

$20,000 Si vs $20,000 tC(in other words, the price of a stock Si vs. the price of a stage 0 Tc) the tc will smoke the crap out of the Si.

how do you figure.......a base tc what 17k......turbo kit 3k.....tuning $200-400.....equals a car barely faster than a stock si. when you know dam well a si with I/H/E and some minor tweaks will give your stage 0 turbo tc a run for its money.

and also you go mod for mod on both cars the si wins. of course the stage 0 should be faster than a STOCK si......its TURBO. If you wanna put it that way my friend has a 95 hatch civic with well under 20k invested in it all motor and it would eat up your stage 0 tc any day of the week.

I'm sure you can make a tC faster than the si for less money. That may justify your reasons for getting a tC, but not really to say tC > si.

You could make a tC faster than a 350z or a s2k....does it make the tC a better deal? Not really, the 350z/s2k is still a better car overall, really.

The civic si is basically the same idea. If you have the extra money, the civic si is a better car. If you don't have as much, the tC is the better deal. end of story

well spoken, thats a no brainer........if you have a tc thats faster than a 350 or s2k its still not a better car i agree. i think there will always be two sides to the subject.

What is your whole point in this argument? That the Si is a "better" car? define better?

More options, or faster? Well, duh. It costs more!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course it can be "defined" as being better. As for it being faster? Again, IT COSTS MORE than the tc. However, "build" your own Si or tc for the same price, and I used 20,000 dollars and the tc will smoke the si. How do you figure it will be "barely" faster?

how can so many people speculate on cars they don't even own.. the si isn't even out in the public market yet.. but yet so many people are pulling numbers, specs, and predictions out of their butts???

ive driven both, stock for stock, the si has a good kick..
the si has less body roll.. and corners nicely.. the tC feels more like a boat. ive driven both. i dont own either..
in fact i own a scion, i think the si is a nice car.
its much more "sporty".. the tC has some cool features like
glass roof... adjustable rear seats..

also.. the tC feels more "luxury" even though it aint a luxury car, whereas the si has more of a sport feel..
the si has like 200 hp and a 140 tq.. thats a lot! when vtec kicks it.. its just insane.. the pull is awesome.. and so is the 6gear tranny..

You bash people for pulling numbers and predictions out of their butts then continue on praising the Si for being an awesome car. How have you driven a car that hasn't been released? Unless you're talking an '05 Si which is a whole other animal.

Honda has Civic Live events where you can drive the 06 Civic lineup, including the 06 Si. I believe there is going to be one this weekend in San Francisco.

That's exactly the point. the Si costs more so it is justifiably a better car, in my opinion. It is faster, too. It's more expensive..but we're not arguing which is a better bargain right now.

Like i said before, the tC is a better bargain for someone who is limited financially, the si is a step up, but at a cost.

My comments were made after I quoted a user saying something about future videos of tc's vs. si's. That was my point.

We can argue all day long about which stock is better. Sure, the Si winds hands down. More money is put into it, so one should expect it to be better. As for watching videos of the two cars? I could imagine that we arent going to be seeing videos of "which is a better deal", but rather some races. Now show me a 20k Si beat a 20k tc. That was my only point. You can extrapolate anything else out of that you feel necessary, but that was my only point.

I can honestly say I don't think a single tC owner on this site thinks his/her car is "the best". tC owners are simply proud of their cars and love them, but surely dont think they are the best. Similar to how you box owners feel about your toasters.

For someone to mention on a SCION site that they think a "similar" car is better, you will get many disagreements and biased opinions.

Are tc owners biased? sure.
Is it bad to be? no
Would most of us buy a Honda? No.
