A pc laptop will last you 2 years before it needs to be reformatted every month and is barely useable. A mac will last you a good 4-6 years. My iMac is 14 months old and it hasn't slowed down at all, in fact, it boots up faster now.

I used Mac's ever since I first started using computers. For some strange reason I went over to windows when I when to college and after getting my macbook pro I am honestly trying to figure out why I did that.

Pros of the MacBook Pro:

320 internal hard drive
illuminated keyboard
The screen resolution is awesome
No viruses
navigation is super easy
no screaming curse words at it while trying to use photoshop (not the same story with my windows)
Auto-dim, when the lights go off the screen dims slightly so it isnt flipping super bright.

Cons:
Powercord will need to be replaced within the first year
The cover dents easily

Other than that, I love my Macbook

Sorry but no. I used to build computers before I bought my iMac and I had to reformat and upgrade at least once a year, and I knew what I was doing. My parents are average PC users, they don't know what they're doing but they're not computer illiterate, and their Dell (that I just bought them 4 months ago) is already running like ___, and there was barely anything in it to clean out. I have a Dell laptop (work gave it to me) and the only thing it's used for, is Outlook, Excel, and Firefox. When it was new, it had a 97 second boot up, now after 1 year, it's at about a 181 second boot up time. I have 10x the amount of programs on my Mac, a ____load of garbage on my iMac and after 14 months of abuse (haven't cleaned anything out of it, no formatting, not even trying to keep it clean) it boots up 14 seconds faster than when I first got it.

And in terms of laptops, the Macs are much better than PC laptops. They actually have a true standby, close the laptop and it completely shuts off, without the need of rebooting. If I close my laptop, the screen shuts off, but it stays running. I could change it to switch to standby or hibernate, but that means it has to log off, power down, then you have to log back on, reload the desktop, etc. Also, have fun trying to print something with a PC laptop. Gotta go find the drivers, install them, tell the wizard to shut up because it won't stop saying "HAY LOOK I FOUND SUMFIN OMFG LOOK I FOUND NEW DEVIZE!!" install 50,000 drivers, etc...vs the Mac which you just plug in and click print. I could go on and on, but you're probably too biased towards PCs to agree that the Macbook is a better option.

Macs are easier to hack when compared the Windows, by far, no way to question it. You're dead on about why no one even bothers to. Their market share is so low compared to Windows, especially in the business world that it's not worth it.

Just watch as Mac climbs the market share ladder, the amount of viruses will increase also.

And Carbon, if you're having that many problems, it's definitely user error. I don't need to overpay for old technology.

Apple should stick to making cell phones and MP3 players.

My 2 cents.

So I guess it was user error when I was installing Vista onto a brand new HDD and got a blue screen half way through the installation? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!

Yep. 54% done, blue screen. HDD ruined. I returned everything to Newegg the next day, went to the Apple store, bought a 24" iMac and wished I switched a long time ago.

I'll give you Vista. Complete ____ up on Window's side. I've never installed it, no real reason too.

Just wait until Mac actually starts building quantities similar to Dell and actually have to worry about people hacking.

Yea obviously, but what's the install base for macs? 10-15%? That won't be for another 10 years. I still find it funny when I try to download and install virus's on my mac.

i work with pc's every day. im a tech guy. if you are looking to buy a pc. go ahead and buy a 64 bit os. if your lookin at macs. not a bad choice at all if you have the money. a lot of problems with macs are you miss a lot of drivers when buying printers and other devices and theres is not a big selection of software also.
