Then keep it and stick the 2JZ in the chassis of the new supra *assuming it comes out*... you're welcome

So we lost a rear wheel drive, mid engined sports car, so Toyota could focus on buillding porky front wheel drive psudeo-sports coupes?

How sad...

I guess they gotta build what sells though and the tC makes a more practical daily driver than the MR did. It still breaks my heart to see it go though. I could care less about the Celica, they haven't been exciting for a long, long time.

Supra is great, but I'd rather see a new affordable exotic MR than a big, giant 4000 lb V10 Supra for $50k that I'll never be able to afford or want anyway.

Gotta disagree about the CELICA! I owned 2 of them. I had an 89' convertible and a 01' Carbon blue. I loved both of them. They were more "pretty" than fast but were excellent cars. Darn shame Toyota dumped them like the Supra. I will miss them both. I am sure there will be special Edition just like the did on the supra after 92'.

Toyota build cars that most people will buy. Building cars according to a bunch of enthusiasts on the internet, many of whom probably can not afford it, does not make business sense.

You're absolutely right.

The move to making the tC versus the MR and Celica does make perfect sense in that light, but it still saddens me that they have to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

I Would gladly take a supra over a ferrari any day its more fun to build a car for half the price and still make it look nice and fast then spend 200k on a ferrari. And go to japan there are supras and skylines pushing 1100-1700 HP raw power no nos, now thats some muscle that can take on any car.

It is sad, but alas, the lowest common denominator gives the greatest chance of profit. I thought about buying an Evo before the whole RSX, tC, Celica choice. But Evo for a daily in traffic, along with insurance, and maintenance, doesn't justify the purchase of car for me. So I picked a cheap, solid car in the tC.
