What type of vehicle do you expect?
the original question was what do we expect the dL to be... i think the better question is what should the dL be.
my answer:
take the current IS300 floorplan and slightly alter it for better stiffness. use the same hard points on the car (lowers development expense) and alter the styling accordingly, and decontent it to a level similar to the tC. keep the engine and tranny options. and finally sell the manual at 19,195 and the auto at 19,995.
a rwd scion. that's what it should be.

why do some many ppl think it'll be another compact hatch? I don't think Scion wants to typecast itself as a one car company.
I think it should be a mid-size sedan, with a decent engine and Scion trademark radical stylings. It better not be another hatch. I doubt it be an SUV or a straight truck. It might be a truck sedan hybrid thing. I think we can pretty sure its not a Mini-Van. Scion will come out with a mini-van eventually but probably not for another couple years.
I'm anxious to see what these guys have come up with.

I personally don't like the looks of the xA hatchback but I think if Scion is coming out with another car in less than a year, it should be just a concept car. If so, it should hit car shows in less than 6 months, otherwise we have nothing to look forward to. I think they might come out with a concept sporty/sports car (convertible) no bigger than a Porsche. RWD, FWD, or AWD?
shared components have been a backbone of the auto industry for a while. a sedan would seem like a logical answer to the scion line.
here's my logic:
the tC is built on the toyota avensis chassis, which is in fact, a sedan. this allows for the tC "coupe" to have rear passenger room as well as cargo space.
if toyota was smart, they'd use the exact same chassis and motor as the tC and build a smart, sexy, roomy sports sedan to complement the lineup. the avensis is proof that a sedan would work on that chassis, since it was a sedan first after all.
to have two models that use the same chassis, engine, and transmission would just be crazy, i know. but it just may be crazy enough to work. (ahem. xA. xB. see a pattern?)
my theory is with the sedan. car companies are out to make money in the most efficient way possible, just like any large corporation. i think that this would be the most sound corporate idea.
and hey, sports sedans are fun
can never have enough sporty saloons to rip around in!

I think it'll be a sedan (1st guess) or a truck. A sedan would bring the market of those that wdon't like two doors but want the scion style. Because let's face it the 115hp that the xA and xB pump out won't be enough. the xB was created to be different (catchy), the xA was made to have 4 doors and fit in parking spaces. I don't know what the truck would look like, but I'm guessing the specs will be somewhat like the tacoma.
Anyway whatever they do, it'll be hot I'm sure.
And anyone that thinks the tC is boring, is smoking the good stuff
. It's the best small coupe on the market, HANDS DOWN.

well i dont think it would be aedan although it seems like a logical step for scion. would YOU want to buy a family sedan? i dont think so...remember scion was designed for the youth market and i dont think the youth demand four door sedans.. i think some thing more like a sport ute truck kind of thing like a jeep wrangler maybe...
Through the grape vine I did hear that they are planning on making a 4th Scion and the name that I did hear was the dL, but I also know that for the last year they have been talking about a sport truck of some type. If that's so, they may be looking at making a truck that sits very low (down-low). The idea is that there is a market for accessorizing trucks for shows, much like the xA, xB and tC have.
Makes sense to me........but what do I know!

Throw 250 Horses in a car that costs under 30K and I bet that would sell too.

I've shown this pic before. I like that wench. I wonder how many lbs it could pull. It's also a 2-door with suicide mini doors...somewhat like the Element but looks better.

Actually this vehicle is coming out soon for the Toyota Line-up
