First runs with turbo+videos *updated*
9/2/06
Made it to the track last night for the second time with the turbo. Pulled a little bit better times and seemed to have gotten the launch down. Still working on controlling the spin/shift from 2nd to 3rd. I think once I master that I can take another couple .10's off my time. DR's should be here within 2 weeks.
This is the best run, where I bounced off the rev limiter in 2nd bleh. Everything the same.. 18" nitto neo gen's and 8.5 psi except I am now tuned!

So I finally got to make it out to the track last night. This is the first time ive run with the turbo/clutch/flywheel installed. I've been putting off going mainly due to the heat but I wanted to get the launching down for fall.
First off let me say that launching on street tires with this kind of tq is fun!</sarcasm> It was in the upper 90s outside during the runs. The heatsoak was really really bad. By the time the car was at the line the intake temp was already 160 degrees and that is with pushing the car up to the end of the staging area.
I was only able to get 3 runs in due to the tracks computer giving timing errors as well as a pretty big crash that took about 30 minutes to clean up.
The car is currently running untuned on the 8.5 psi basemap that came from turbonetics. Everytime my car has been to the dyno shop there has been a problem on their end which keeps pushing back the date I can get it tuned. It had one dyno run there until they realized they did not have the cable needed to tune the unichip. On that run it put down 258whp on a dynojet.
I was launching the car rather lightly just because I did not want a massive amount of wheelspin at the line, not to mention I have to learn the whole car over again. So the 60' were really bad except the last run where I got the feel for the launch and hit a 2.2. That run I missed 4th though.
This is a written copy of the best time slip of the night..
R/T - .043
60' - 2.400
330 - 6.389
1/8 - 9.494
MPH - 78.76
1000 - 12.173
1/4 - 14.402
MPH - 101.59
The times are not that great, and I know ill get better soon. Im working on getting it tuned then mastering the launching on street tires. From there I'm going to get it tuned for a little higher boost and run some DRs in the late fall.
Here are a couple videos I got. Sorry for the videos being a little shaky.
First run

Vs Srt4 - I didnt have any wheelhop but the wheelspin was out of control. could not get any traction in 2nd and part of 3rd.

The turbo still has quite a bit more potiental than the times I ran. The main problem for me was launching+traction in 2nd gear. The car has a little bit more of a learning curve than in stock form where my second run stock at the track was a 15.7.
Im just trying to throw some numbers and videos out there even if they are a bit low. Over the next few months ill be going more and more so you'll see the times drop a lot for sure.

Just look at the mph, 101 mph is a high 13 second car with traction.
Work on the lauch (good luck though). If you don't have an LSD that is what I'd be saving my money for.
Good luck though, the mph is there for sure.

Currently running nitto neo gen 215/40/18. I want to move to 225's on my next set of tires, just worried about tire rub with the size of the rims and 8.5 width.
I'll have a set of 225/50/15 DR's shortly.

I run 225/45/17 DR's.
Your skills will improve. Need a little practice, because those times are that of the S/C, and that should not be the case. You should be in the 13's from what I heard. Maybe so, maybe not. But some claim that you can break a 13 with the Tnetics kit at stock boost levels. Those 2.4 60 foot's are killing your time. They need to be like 2.1 - 2.2.
Are you feathering, or dumping the clutch when you launch? What clutch/flywheel combo do you have?
Oh yah Im fully aware of the bad 60' times. getting that down to 2.2 and not spinning so much in 2nd (although its going to be a pain to try and not do that with street tires) will net me in the 13s. with stock boost and some DRs I'd probably imagine mid 13's are possible. But I doubt id get any better than that really until nov/dec time due to the crappy air we have right now.
I've been dragging this car from about 3 months after I got it. FI is a whole new beast and learning curve. There are a lot more factors the driver has to control when running on street tires. I havent really practiced launching on the streets or any time before last week at the track. Im not dumping the clutch im slipping it. I was mainly trying to take it easy on the launches as I didnt know what kind of tire spin I was going to get at the track off the line. Now that I have the rpm launch point down as well as getting used to the clutch I should be able to start getting some consistant 2.2 60s.
Im currently running ACT street clutch and the fidanza flywheel.
