Default My tC story for the week

So I was told by some kid in an early 90's turbo DSM that my stock tC was too good to be true. He thought it was way to quick to be stock, but everything about it is stock except for my drop in air filter. Anyway He proceeded to tell me that my car wasn't stock and that he could hear my supercharger blowing. Don't get me wrong I love my tC, but it doesn't seem to be that fast! He claimed to have around 200hp, but was barely faster until the top of 3rd gear...I told him I'd let him look at my engine, but he drove off instead. He probably didn't want to look bad in front of his girl. She probably would of wanted to jump in the tC!

So pretty much I was just wondering if anyone else has ever heard that about their car? My guess is it had some thing to do with the way the air box sounds.

That is part true though - first and second gear (if you launch correct) you can get the jump on someone. With my friend in my car I got the jump on an STI - There are two reasons why: 1. I caught him off guard and 2. he had a turbo so after I caught him off guard he had to wait a second or two due to turbo lag.

That story is from months ago before i had my s/c. I looked in my rear view and saw the kid with his mouth open because he was shocked I could chirp second so hard and pull away from him. As soon as he hit 3rd he would have flew past me. Thats where forced induction will beat ya. First gear is so short in the tc that right now ....i cant slam first as hard as I used to before my current setup. If I do it will spin for most of second before gaining traction.

Im rambling - to answer your question - the tC up untill the middle/end of second gear does feel to be 200+ish hp untill end of second gear/3rd/4th. Its even better when a WRX or someone quicker cant get away from you. Some of these turbo guys are leaving Z's and stock STIs behind. I deff cant do that but im car is atleast quick now.

Squall is right... the tC is pretty dangerous in 1st and second, but third is where our gearing advantage runs out, and we start to run out of breath.

I have full exhaust (cat-less) intake and an engine damper. I pull pretty good in third gear. I've chirped a time or two in third. its fourth that really blows.

I had a guy in a neon (wannabe srt4) talkin trash about my car so I said lets race. he told me he wasn't stupid and wouldn't race a boosted car. so tried to show him under the hood and he just ran his mouth and walked away. saw him a few days later, stoped at the same light and ran my mouth. beet him by 3 car lengths before I left 3rd gear. then I let off and laughed proudly.

yeah, 1st and 2nd are decent. I've kept with a friends 425 whp integra, though i attribute that to his traction issues ;)

It's going to be great when I actually do mod my car, but I'm proud of it in stock form. I knew a turbo DSM would probably be faster...it was just funny to see him struggle until the turbo hit full boost.

moving this to autosports & technique since it's pretty much about your race.

Even if you had a S/C, he would barely hear the thing anyway...

Boost it, and show him what a tC does with F/I....

S/C is my plan eventually, but for this year I can't afford it. I'm starting off small with some supporting mods like the exhaust.

good idea. then think about an spipe thats 2.5inch and maybe a jethot coated header. if you get the right parts now and do your homework you will be pretty darn happy when you get the charger.

I'll definitely be reading up on everything...right now I'm trying to decide on a full exhaust and I'm kind liking the Dezod s-pipe back, but can't find too many post from people that are using it. Draxxas seems to be another good one, but it's pretty expensive.

Just FYI if you want the warranty for your supercharger, you cant have a header. I know because I have a S/C and called up TRD to verify, and they told me any header will void the S/C warranty.... atleast for now. I was told they may make an announcement of ones that will work.... but more likely than not, they wont.

Hmmm...that's probably good information to know. I'm not getting a header just yet, but I would like to. I'll be doing my homework before I get a bunch of stuff.

yea - there isnt much posted about the draxas - all i can say is that if you like a deep sounding exhaust - you will be 100% happy w/ the draxas. I have it and if I could do it over again ...i would get the same exact one w/o question.
