^^Actually, still illegal. In some states, it's called "Gross display of HP". Others just call it "Drag racing", and you will still get a ticket. Basically if you accidently peel out the tires from a stop light, you can get a ticket for drag racing.

No one is questioning how these events got started.

Rhythm, in all his rock-star "40 street races" glamour... had some weak argument defending street racing... cause that's how professional racing started, then boldly suggesting a lot of pro racers got their start by racing in the streets. Wrong.

and that still has no relevance on why people do it NOW.
Should I go beat my wife with a stick cause she disagreed with me? I mean, that's how the justice system started...

Street born Motorsports
-Drifting
-Nascar
-Drag Racing

(Basically the most popular Motorsports in the world).
Failed again. you should really stop trying.
The most participated motorsport event... SCCA Nationals... with 1000+ entrants.
The most watched motorsport in the world... F1.

Drag racing is the only motorsport that has universal clout... but didn't start cause of bootlegging. It's more likely started cause some egomaniac in his steam engine challenge a guy on his horse to a race. Thus, percepitating the belief that street racers have small dicks and street race to make themself feel bigger. It's like owning a hummer ;)

and I can't believe you missed Rally. But, that was born off-road... and has far more universal appeal than NASCAR and Drifting combined.

I'm sorry, but not only should I bow down to HondaCRX's VAST knowledge, but everyone else should too. We are not worthy of you insight on history, and where Motorsports originated from.

So, let me make sure I have it correct,

-Drifting and Time attack are not Motorsports.......Check
-Drag Racing or Nascar do not have their roots in Bootlegging......Check

I think you should shed you infinite wisdom with Wikipedia and all the sites with historical links, to let them know they have it wrong.

As far as the whole Rythm vs. the world arguement: Gadson started on the street, and had to give it up to get sponsored. NASCAR FOR SURE started on the street, not only that, the OG racers were running from the cops (on the street) before the NASCAR started. Look up Bootlegging, esp the southern and Apalatian (sp!, the mountain range in the eastern US, Virginia) Now go back and look for all the times I've stuck up for Rythm. I'll give you a hint, when you find the other one, you've seen all of them. I don't like the guy, but he's right. in America, pro racing originated on the streets...but back then it was mostly dirt roads.
Oh, BTW Drifting and Time Attacks are MOTORSPORTS. Drifting is not a race, it just started in them....on the streets.
YES MA'AM...ILL GET RIGHT ON THAT! As for now i would prefer not to wait in the two hour lines at the drag strips.

P.S. Excellent job on deciphering my name, UR SO CLEVER!

Whoa there spank. I know comprehension is tough for ya, but this is getting out of hand.
Drifting is NOT racing.
Time attack is NOT professional.
Both are motorsports.

-Drag Racing or Nascar do not have their roots in Bootlegging......Check
Wrong again.
NASCAR certainly started from bootlegging. Drag racing very likely did not. Read above again.

with Wikipedia
... ? did you just use Wikipedia as a reference? ha! Let's quote a reference that is maintained by companies marketing departments, fanbois, and guys who do very very little research.

No wonder why you're such a dunce.

Wait, I thought you were done with this thread? How's that autobiography coming along, Johnny Tran? I can see it now...
Amazon's top ten books...
"Johnny 'rhythmn' Tran's greatest street races".

You could make an audiobook,
Narrated by Johnny 'rhythmn' Tran: "tonight, i found a sentra to race... listen to us go at it now."
--- 15seconds later ---
'rhythmn': "intense... so intense! I mean, he was RIGHT there alongside me... I didn't think I'd win, but I double-clutched it and speed-shifted, and passed him! My mom is gonna be so proud of his son."

Now available for download.

WTF dude? What's with the hostility? All I said was take it to the track, then you'd have something to REALLY brag about.* If you don't want to wait at the strip, would you rather take half a day off work and wait for more than 2 hrs at traffic court if you get a ticket?
P.S.
the "M" next to my age, means "Male" not "Ma'am." WTF, I make a comment about NOT STREET RACING and that makes me female? If I said don't fight everyone that insults you, what would you call me? Big stupid doo doo head? Grow up man, what are you in High School?

*I beat a last gen M3 on the freeway with someone in my car. Doesn't mean **** tho, I would have no chance on a drag strip, at a road course.

I guess street racing can be a sport when there is over 10g's on the line...plus you can pick up extra points when you kill spectators when you lose control of your car

If you stand on the side, then you probably should be ran over. And the driver should go to prison...
