Default The Supercharged Tc VS the Colbalt ss supercharged?

I know this random but what do people think about the Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged stats VS the stats of the scion TC with the complete TRD package and the TRDSupercharger ?

From what I heard the Cobalt SS is under-rated by Chevy and really outputs at least 205+ at the wheels... Intake/Exhaust and Pulley are putting them up to 225+ at the wheels

I heard Chevy is selling upgrades of the pulley for the cobalt. I don't know why TRD is not doing it.

I know your not expecting me to say this being a tC driver and all... but i hand it to the cobalt... forged internals stock ...

Tc Supercharged... with an NST pully megan header and megan mid pipe @ 9.5psi

1/4 mi : 14.336

SS STOCK!!!!!
1/4 mi: 14.111

Yeah you will lose... thats a modded tC-S versus a stock cobalt...

sorry to say... even though its ugly... SS is a pretty fast car stock

the Road & Track magazine says that the cobalt ss with 205hp makes 6.1 in 0-60, and 14.8 in 1/4 mile

I figure the SS stock against a SC tC with a stock set-up as well.

Now I just saw a SS Cobalt with a 17 psi pulley, reflash, full exhaust and Intake dyno 221hp and 215tq to the wheels. His curve was all over the place though at 5800rpm so that reflash was little wierd. My bro's SC TC put down 225 and torque was 204 and mods were ZPI 9lbs pulley, TRD exhaust w/ DC header, Crank pulley and Fab'ed K&N Intake. He now has the full Megan Exhaust, Forge 007 BPV, Nology Wires(do anything ) and Gatorback Belt being stock belt was used earlier.

The thing to remember is that everyone is still talking PEAK hp.. which is worthless other than for bragging rights. The SS is sporting an eaton SC which is most likely producing more HP at lower RPMs than the centrifugal unit on the tC. I havent looked up graphs to compare yet, but if it is like most eatons I have seen you will get your @$$ handed to you even with equal peak HP numbers. They arent the coolest cars out there, but they do pretty well.

You will lose to the SS/SC, I have one and they are quick. 13.6 with minimal bolt ons it easy for those cars. Plus the fastest SS/SC to date is already in the 12s, and getting lower.

Nuff said! It would be nice if we had a roots type blower.

I don't think the SS Supercharged is ugly. I think it looks pretty sexy. It is faster than the Supecharged tC. I would like to have one, but I care about reliability and i would like to have my car for longer than a couple of years.

True that the SS utilizes the HP and TQ more but the power band on the Dyno looks pretty similar to the TRD SC. Now it makes a little more but not much more in the lower end of the band, nothing bolt-ons can't match. Now I have raced numerous SS's in my SC TC and all have been beatin by at least 3 cars minimum. Not saying that SS's are slow. THEY ARE NOT, easier to upgrade since GM Performance backs them like no other. What I like on the TRD blower is it doesn't drop of the map as hard as the SS SC does. It dropped off bad on top end around 6200 rpm and redlined at 6500. The TRD makes it top end good, so even if the SS cobalt with comparable stats gets off the line due to more torque the SC TC will win. But not by much.

How will that cobalt run at 100,000 miles.. :-)

Sorry but the cobalts are ugly as are most American cars in that price range. Sorry but I bet the TC with minor mods will eat it alive in the corners. All depends what your into but I have no interest in drag times. Lets see one on a road course...

Im not talking stock and just show me the track... :-) Oh ya and whats the base price? 22k I think I might be up to 19 with my suspension mods. Granted not that big of difference. Just not a fan of them at all.

OMG that TC did not even have the TRD springs... stock suspension is not that great... But minor mods and its competitive and I'd bet still less money. All in all the TC is what it is.. a fun car for under 20k, and with a few mods will hang with number of things.
