Default What am I doing wrong?

Why does it take so long to get out of first gear? Taking off from the stop light in first gear I have to catch up with the traffic besides me. But after first gear I am good to go.

because your a 58 year old woman?

to tell the truth, i used to have this problem too since the tc was the first manual transmission car i owned.

you just have to get used to the clutch engagement and feeding it the throttle to effectively launch the car.

inshort, the problem isn't your car, the problem is that you don't know how to drive it yet.

Default Thanks

I expected this reply, being a woman and being 58 has nothing to do it. As you said you had the same problem and you are only 22. Are you suggesting that only teenagers and 20 somethings should have Scions? Sorry, then I would say only 50 somethings should drive a Benz. Some of you guys are too critical on this board. If you can't say something helpful. Look at the post and move on. Charmon329

i wasn't being critical of the elderly or the opposite sex, i was just surprised to see a 58 year old woman posting. i was curious if you really are one and am not critizing your driving because of those factors. i just had to ask because so many people put that they are either 2 years old, or 105 years old when they make an account so i was kinda curious when i saw that there was 58 year old woman posting on this site.

you have every right to drive and own a scion, and to have an account and post and share thoughts.

but yeah, i HAD this problem when i first got the car because i was letting the clutch pedal out too slowely in first gear.

how long have you been driving your tc?

before long, i got pretty insync with the clutch and gas in first gear leaving in less then half a moment from a green light with minimal tire squeal.

in time, you too should find it really easy to engage first gear from a stop and will be leaving all the other cars at the intersection behind.
