Default What to do?! Autocrosser Input Needed!

So what would you guys do...

I was going to go to ScionVIP this weekend b/c it's in NJ at Raceway Park in Englishtown. It's a big event I guess, with a campout and everything. Free tent, music, movies, etc. Usual VIP stuff plus more b/c of the camping.

Or... do I go autox? The venue isn't finalized yet, but I've heard that it might be held at the Seneca Army Depot again, where our 2nd event was held. This is the old airstrip I had videos of a few weeks ago. So the track is usually long, fast, and definitely fun.

I'm actually in the STS points lead right now (even though I haven't won an event yet )... and if I miss this event, there's a chance I'll lose that lead. Not to mention that autox is just a blast anyways...

So what do you think? Sure, might get a biased opinion posting in this area, but I just want some thoughts...

Car shows are a joke. Autocrossing is some of the most fun you can have anywhere. The decision is easy.

Haha... more videos. Of course I'd have more videos if I race.

I already signed up for VIP and wouldn't really want to have to back out of it... but I'd still kind of rather race.

i do auto-x's all the time, but the VIP is more fun to me because of the 1/8th mile drag shootout just for Scion owners. really fast tc's xa's and xb's will be fighting for the top 3 postitions. You won't be dissapointed. I wouldnt even consider an auto-x that weekend, there are many auto-x's this summer, but few VIP events with FREE FOOD, bikini contest, camp-out, jumbotron movies, and hot chicks.

autox soooo much better!!! car show are overrated and alotta "rice" tend to show up...autox no rice...you get to drive your car and show everyone what you can do...plus i would hate to see you lose your place...plus an airstrip...soooo much more fun than a parking lot...go autox...

i maybe a little biased though...kuz id pick autox over almost everything! im actually autoxing this weekend here in vegas instead of going to my family reunion...two autox's ago i autoxed...and had to rush back into vegas and get ready for my boyfriend's cousin's debut!

plus car shows come like every year anyway...there's always next year...a trophy is more important at the end of the year than seeing a bunch show cars...you'll get to see cars in action as well as put your own car to action! sooo much more fun

id miss an autox if there was an extreme family emergency, if i was gonna go volunteer for the Las Vegas Grand Prix (Champ Car) or the Long Beach Grand Prix (Champ Car, Atlantic Series, American Le Mans etc etc) .... or just an emergency in general...other than that i wouldnt miss an autox for a car show ...absolutely not!

Haha... you don't have any girl friends in NY, do you? That's hot.

Ya, I find car shows fun... but I have a LOT better chance at doing well at autox than any sort of drag race or car show - though some day I'd like to take it to a dragstrip, just to say I did it and see how I'd do.

We're still waiting for confirmation though I think.

nope not very many girl friends out here...my two best friends are back at home in kali.... HAHA... all good tho...i can hang with the big boys! always have anyway heheh

car shows can be fun somewhat to an extent...i just get irritated at some of the immature ppl that show...it ergs me so...

here my philosophy:
there are two catagories:
show car
race car

its kind of hard to have a show car that you race...only because its real hard to maintain its beauty beating the crap out of it almost every month or how ever much you go out racing..

drag racing a show car is possible...but to me...where's the fun without corners? plus with all the extra weight of a sound system for example...you gotta be real good at doing some kind of weight reduction to make up for that extra baggage...

autoxing or tracking a show car...real hard to maintain.... on the track if you eat it and go off course into the dirt and rocks... (you know where im going with this) same with screens, and audio mods etc etc..anything that adds weight to make the car look good

sometimes it comes down to that situation
thats probably why im not aiming for looks or becoming a show car...is kuz i run over a cone or hit one even...scuff marks that take a while to go away... 18" wheels....harder to autox on...

probably the closest cosmetic thing for me to do to my tc is proabbly nice light weight wheels (enkei rpf1, kosei, motegi track lights....) with some race tires...that'll probably be it...maybe a re-spray to get rid of all the rock chips and niks / scratches here and there... but i dont see me doing anything else cosmetic with it...not for now at least

yeah it just depends on your set up i suppose... some tc's are set up for drag...some set up for cornering... some are just for pure show....but show cars are very high maintenance....and need to be babied... i cant do that too much...i baby my car alot...and it doesnt help me any.... (im not saying you dont baby a drag or touring car...but keeping it looking nice may take a little bit more in care)

my boyfriend and i are set up for pure cornering... probably why we do alright in autox...we're not the best...but good enough i suppose...but in drag...ill admit...ill get my A*S whooped... not to forget im an automagic...wont help me either... but in the corners its different...some ppl can pull off being a touring / straight line car....some ppl just prefer one or the other... but doing both ...you've got alotta work to do...

like the quote says:
drag is for fast cars (high hp, good high end...lots of power)
autox is for fast drivers (you, that can make the car go fast)
