I am just closing in on 15k. I have switched to mobil 1 and oem filter and change every 4k.

Aside from what the manual says, what service are you all doing at 15k, 30k, etc? Do you all actually use the dealer for the 15k service?


I don't want to do anything that can hurt the box, (tranny fluid too early), but want to make this car last forever.


Any input would be appreciated!

 

I don't think changing the tranny fluid too early is going to hurt a darn thing. Heck, it might help!
I'm at 5K on the odo, so I can't help you out too much. I do know that I'll be lookin' in my manual to see what I really need to do.

 

Craig... You put in Moble 1 every 4,000 miles? The book only calls for regular oil changes every 5,000 miles. I too, am closing in on 15K. I had the dealer do my 10k maintenance for about $58. Are you using the free oil chagnges? I got 3 free from Scion and 8 free oil changes from Miller Scion of Manassas. They say that they add some special additive for moving parts. You don't want to miss out on that, whatever it is, especially while it is under warrenty.
Did you get a 10K maintenance at the Dealer?
Manual trans? I don't want to change my fluid until there is some hint of discoloration.
Automatic trans would be a differant story.

 

what are you guys doing on the auto trannys and when?

 

I'm pass 15 k and I opp-ed out for the maintenance schedule. Is this going to complicate the warranty? it was $217.88 of unexpected bill that I didn't want to pay for!
