Default air bag light blinking

My air bag light just started blinking. I was told by the dealer that next available appointment would be end of the month and not to worry. They said that is shouldn't just inflate even though they never looked at it and don't know exactly what's wrong with it yet.

Is this a common thing? Has this happened to anyone else yet?

Can any Scion service people offer some insight to this problem. Is it a major or minor problem?

Did you change out your driver seat?

the under seat should be irrelevant. look to see if you did unclip something anyway.

the air bag won't go off. and a month wait for an appointment **Bleep**.

complain to service managers, or higher. that is a safety device. it's an important thing. if you crash before "an available appointment" and it doesn't deploy....

yeh, _____ at people and get that handled asap

Did you unbolt it or disconnect it?

no, i didn't do anything but throw some stuff under the seat. when i unplug the wires from under the seat, the light stays and doesn't blink so it must be something malfunctioning. i'll call the service people again and see if i can get an earlier appointment.

thanks for the suggestions.

There is a connection for the airbag circuit under the drivers seat. It has a quick release connection so that the seat can be removed. Perhaps when you put something under the seat you disconnected or loosened it. The connection is about 6 to 8 inches back from the front of the seat on the far left under-side (from seated drivers perspective). The connection is made by two white plastic pieces that snap together. Make sure they are snapped together all the way. You might need to reset the ECU after you do this to get the airbag code cleared out. To do this either disconnect the battery for a few minutes or recently a FAQ was just added about how to do this without disconnecting the battery (check in that section).

When you disconnected the plugs, and reconnected them, did it still blink? I would do what Minsk99 suggested and reset everything by disconnecting the battery.

In the steering wheel there is a thing called the spiral cable which allows you to turn the steering wheel and still have electrical connections on the steering wheel (air bag and horn). See if your horn works or not. If it doesn't its probably the spiral cable. I had that problem on a Camry the other day.
