Default Am I screwed?! Big Time Engine Sludge..

So after I failed smog i went to the dealership to check on CEL (P0012 & P0456) and he recommended camshaft timing gear replacement. About an hour after I left him with my car he shows me this. After seeing this, the tech advised for a new engine?!
I said no and went home but now noticed the CEL not on anymore. So couple questions: Should I try smog test again now that CEL is gone? How can i clean this crap? And do you guys really think i need a new engine?!

This is the first prob I've had with the car and lesson learned never neglect car maintenance...but please any help will be greatly appreciated!

Clean it. I would seafoam the oil and drain a few times.

I have the same question. The only hope to get this fixed is to pay alot of money toget it taken apart and cleaned out. You got to take care of your engine
