Yeah--I have used the touch up paint, but it always is still visible when I am done. What I mean is the surface is not smooth. I am sure you can rub it out--but I am afraid to mess to much with it.

I tried it once, and to me it looks worse than the small scratch did. So i wanna know the answer to this question as well.

First thing is to clean the area to be touched up with some 90% rubbing alcohol. Next shake the bottle very well. If it is a small rock chip I get a small piece of cardboard and put a dab of paint in the center. Then take a toothpick and mush over the tip a bit to for a small brush. Only add enough paint to the spot to fill in the void. You may have to do a second coat because the paint shrinks after it dries. After it's dried hit it with a little compound to help blend it in. Fo larger scratches first look and see if the scratch got into the color. If it didn't ,you can use just some clear with the brush to build the void back up to the surface.
It just takes practice to do it right. If you goof you can wipe it off with the alcohol and try again till you are happy with the results. Hope this info is helpful.

i ordered paint scratch pens from paintscratch.com last year. they work alright for applying it to rock chips.

i ordered a clearcoat pen also, but i haven't had any luck with that, it just seems like the clearcoat pen just rubs off a layer of paint when applying it.

someone also told me that i should dab on some paint, then lay down some masking tape and smooth over it with a credit card, then lift the tape. it helps even it out.

everyone knows that to make it look perfect requires a wetsand with a highgrit paper and a good polish, but i don't want sandpaper anywhere near my weak clearcoat.

Those pens are a joke. You can't control the amount of paint. 2000 grit paper is safe to flatten out touch ups with but you have to have a flat block to sand and lots of water. Just do it lightly and only as much as needed to make the repair flat. Then buff to make the repair disappear.
