Default battery covered under warranty?

Ok, I got's a 05 XB with 21k on it, my battery was dead for the second time this morning. Before I go and shell out some coin for a new one at Auto Zone, I thought i might inquire if anyone tried to get it replaced under the 36k mi. warranty? I do have a 1000 watt system in it with some video, so i kinda fiqure the dealer will try to use this as an easy out. I had similar problems with Chrysler a few years back, they blaimed my system for repeatedly frying the ECU (turns out it was the alternator).

could there be something in your system still drawing power when you turn off the ignition? is there some way to test for that?

The only thing that should be drawing current is my alarm, which would be a minimal draw. I'm going to throw a amp meter on it and check the current draw, but I'm pretty sure the battery is toast. According to some Toyota Tacoma forums (which seem to have ALOT of battery issues) it may or may not be covered depending on the dealer.

Your battery is still covered under the basic warranty BUT it's pro-rated. Meaning only a portion is still covered and you would have to pay the difference. It still beats paying for an entire new battery...
