Default Bird droppings & how to get it off the paint?

Black paint. Bird sh*t.

After cleaning can still see it at an angle. How best to remove this from the paint?

Thanks!

Bird droppings on paint are emergencies.

If it sat for 10 min. in the sun or 1 hour or more in overcast weather, chances are it has ate through the clearcoat and there is nothing you can do totally repair the damage caused.

That said, you should consider claying the area, but my guess is its too late. Maybe a trip to the bodyshop if it bugs you a lot.

In the future, keep a bottle of Quik Detailer and some clean, soft microfiber polishing cloths behind the seat or in the trunk for emergencies. Or a can (or TWO) of seltzer water, well shaken before applying (for the "blast effect). Droppings are VERY abrasive....if you MUST, blot, dont wipe!!!

And dont park under wires/trees/lightposts/etc. in the future.

Good luck.

Bird crap will actually "etch" the clear coat and you will not be able to remove it. My hood has a few spots on it that have been there since i got it and will not come off. It's like a stain in the clear coat.

Got me too !!

It's usually those damn starlings that are the culprit.

My advise to all those that got hit by starlings, get yourself a nice pellet gun with a scope and send them straight to ..............

Starlings and house sparrows are the only birds legal to shoot.

That's right PETA......... come and get me.

You can use Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0. I remove bird droppings with a wet microfiber towel the instant I see it.

It's used for medium to fine scratches, sometimes heavy scratches, oxidation and blemishes.

Vegetable oil works? Clean the car first than apply? Then wipe off?

the only way i get rid of the etches is to use a high speed buffer ( not orbital ) and Mothers 2 stage polish. First stage will take swirls, scratches and bird crap residue out. Follow that with the stage 2 polish and most of the times they come out.
