Default changing oil for my first time, ever

alrite, im sorry. im bout to go to class, and really dont feel like searching.
sorry.

so, if u dont mind explaing/posting again, thanx.

this will be my first oil change ever.

all i kno is i have to go to the bottom, unscrew SOMETHING, let the oil drip in the pan. pull the filter off, put the other one back. screw it back. add 4 qtrs of oil.

alrite, problem is, where is this screw located?
how exactly do i put the new oil filter on? does it twist, or do i jus push?

and is it really that simple, unscrew, let oil come out, then screw back?

please help. please be as detailed as possible.
thanx

If you don't want to go through the 'trouble' of searching for this topic which has been discussed, then you really shouldn't be attempting this in the first place.

There is a drain plug, unscrew it, remove the old crush washer.
Clean the surface and replace with new crush washer and then your old drain plug.

Make sure you hand tighten the new oil filter, and clean the mounting surface. Also pre-fill the new filter with as much oil as it can hold without spilling out the sides. And do not forget to pre-lube the o-ring with a light coating of oil with your finger.

Use the search, and ensure you do it the right way.

watch out when you remove the drain plug. If you've never changed oil before there's a good chance you'll get your entire arm covered in oil :D. The oil comes out pretty quickly so just be ready for it.

And you really don't need to replace the crush washer every change, maybe every 3-4 changes, maybe.

Some Purple Nitrile Gloves help to keep your hands pretty clean, and you should always change your Drain Plug Crush Washer they are extremely inexpensive for your piece of mind and using a torque wrench on your drain plug is a good idea too.

also a good idea to change the oil after the engine has been running for a little while...

warm oil is less viscous and will flow out and drain alot better.

Better to drive it around before your oil change. Go run some errands or something, then come back and change the oil. Why waste the fuel?

No Problem on the Gloves Tip, I believe the Actual Spec is a 20 Minute Drive before changing your Oil.

chg'd my oil for the first time yesterday morning. took about 1 1/2 hours. yea yea i kno, but it was my first time so

most of the time wasted came from lifting the car. it took me damn near 30 min to find the jack's "release ****"

then took about 30 min for the cleanup, cause it got real messy. lol. i kno for next time though, so its all good.

thanx for the help!!!
