That's what she said...

I've gotta try one of these. What does that say that I'm getting excited over a long labor-intensive chore?

it doesn't take that long to do. you could actually do an xB in about 15-20 minutes if there aren't a whole lot of blemishes in the paint.

Must do first!
The first step is to completely wash the vehicle of all dirt and grime to prevent contaminating the clay with unnecessary dirt particles.
Once clean, you would spray the surface with either plain water, soapy water or the special chemical that comes with the clay.
Start rubbing the clay in a circular motion observing if the overspray is coming off. If it is, you keep going over the entire vehicle until all overspray is removed. If the results are not satisfactory, re-spray the surface and repeat the process where needed.

Claybars are an excellent tool for cleaning your paint! I want to make a few very important points i have not yet read...

1. DO NOT use it in circular motions no matter what anyone says. If you are not experienced at this stuff, then you greatly increase the chance of scratches/swirl marks. (back and forth "paint the fence" grasshopper)
2. If you EVER drop the bar on the ground - THROW IT AWAY
3. ALWAYS make sure you put protection (wax/polish) BACK on your paint immediately after because the claybar not only removes dirt/impurities/fallout - it removes old wax and products you have on it leaving it unprotected. (remember, UV light exposusre is the cause of paint fading. Bug guts are acidic and can eat through your clearcoat in less than a day. Don't risk driving around with 'virgin' paint after you claybar it!)

Now - different brands of claybars are different.
It seems to me that Zaino has the softest bars out there. They flatten out very quickly with the heat from your hand.
Mothers is quite a bit firmer.
While i like both bars - i prefer the firmness of Mothers because it tends to pick up more with less passes. This will be a personal preference thing.

Anybody needing or wanting more help can contact me anytime!
:D

Just did this to my Box last night using the Mother's Clay Bar system. It comes with the bar, detailing spray to use as a lube (They say DO NOT USE WATER) and a bottle of carnuaba cleaning wax.

The effect is AMAZING. I'm a big fan of the Clay now. Should help it shine real nice under the lights at Import Motion...
