Default Clunking Noise from Rear of xB

I have a 2005 xB, I have noticed after the car has been parked for a while, and I start to back up, there is a clunking noise that comes from the rear end of the vehicle. This happens AFTER the car is in gear and while it is moving, it's not the transmission! It doesn't happen any other time... the rear wheels are tight... brakes?

Anyone else hear this?

Thanks!

Default Stock

It's stock, haven't made any mods on spring or engine... just wheels... and I had the problem before we swapped wheels. Any thoughts?

Did I mention earlier that it's an automatic? If not, I just did... LOL

If you are standing on the drivers side of the car, look at the rear tire at about the 7:00 position. On the inside of the wheel, there is a small protrusion on the rear axle. This may be touching your tire/wheel. Check both sides.

Default clunking noise - owners manual says its ok???

OMG! My car does that too!!! It does it when I'm either backing up or when I'm pulling out of a parking space. Only when I've just started the car.

It makes a "kertunk" noise.

I read in the owner's manual that the ABS brakes, Traction Control, etc make a "noise" just after moving the car the first time after starting because they are doing a "safety check" and clicking on. I hope that this is the noise they are talking about.

My fiance's xA makes a similar noise, although much quieter.

Default Same issue with my 2005 xB

Everything is stock. I started it up and when I started to drive it clicked until the ODO passed 25MPH. When I slowed down I heard it again. It's as if something had fallen into the tire. I took the hub cap off, then the tire, then took it to the dealer, then took it to another mechanic and no one can figure out what it is. I've even rotated the tires.

Any help will be appreciated!!!

Just to clear this up a little, this was a problem from last summer, but I remember what it was.

Kristi's (PrincessScion) hubcentric rings from her wheels were not machined correctly and would not allow the wheel to fully seat against the rear drums. When transitioning from backward to forward movement the drums would rotate freely for a moment until they were stopped by the lug nut studs producing the klunk sound.

The problem was fixed when she got new hubcentric rings.
