Default Color Sanding left marks?

I just had a scratch color sanded out of my door like last thursday...i washed my car and there is like a spot you can tell where he did it, it's like not scratched just like there is a greasy type mark that you can only see in the right angle not dead on, can i buff and polish this out?

as long as they didnt sand through the clear, you can use rubbing compund, then polishing compound, then wax the area.

I think even if they did sand through the clear (which is
usually why you sand out a scratch), polish and buff it out.
You'll probably have to do it with a machine rather then by hand.

How would i know if they went through the clear? I mean it still shines like perfect in the sun, just a little haze when you look at it in an angle..kinda like a grease spot..or a swirl mark.

do not use rubbing compound...(too agressive)

use a glazing type products. 3M stuff is great (will work out the hazing)

try this...
http://www.autogeek.net/3mimhanglaz.html

it is a 3M product that any body shop supply or auto supply place should have.

compounding is a paste form of sandpaper...
what you want to do is polish the paint. it removes haze and scratches (i know it say for new paint, but it great for normal paint.)

I color sanded my entire car with 1,000 grit, then 1,500, then used the 3m rubbing compound on a low speed buffer, then 3m polishing compund on the buffer. I also have tons of clear on my car, so ididnt have to worry about going through it. Just take your time. If you rub it out by hand with a quality compound, you will be fine.

If they burned through the clear into the color, you would have a dull spot. I dont think thats the case.

Thanks Everyone! i will get the glaze thingy too and try that just on the door.

if you start buffing it and notice that your taking the color off and onto your buffing device (whether microfiber cloth or orbital pad). stop. your into the color

I was reluctant at first beacuse i didnt want him to make it worse then i thought well if he does he has to fix it...soo i am taking it to him tomorrow morning..he is going to fix it in front of me..which is good then i can be picky HA! anyways, he's going to fix it in front of me..he said he was going to polish it out more and then glaze it or something, he said it happens and there is nothing to worry about i was like OK! he said i need to stop holding things in and if i see a problem to let him know ASAP because that's how he keeps his clients...i understand, so i am going to get it fixed tomorrow morning YAY!

Sounds like he's a good guy. A little sloppy maybe if he left polish splatters, but a good guy who took care of an issue.

HA! wel that stuff works wonders i tell ya. You cant see anything now i am so happy...the only thing you can see is a little bit of swirlies from the buffer thing but those i know can be taken out when i clay bar and wax my car....i might pay someone to come , clay bar, polish, and wax my car with the machine thing, we'll see.
