Default Does the xA & xB's oil drain plug use a washer?

Some people recommend replacing the oil drain plug washer at every oil change, but when I changed the oil in my xA, I didn't even see one.

Do the Scions not use them or did I lose mine?

they use a washer. it's black hard fiber, about $.80 when you buy your filters. sometimes they get stuck on the pan when you remove the drain plug.

When I got my xA from the dealer I went to the parts dept. for touch up paint and oil pan washers. They had to order the paint but had the washers. The washers they sold me are aluminum with what appears to be a thin paper on each side. Cost less than a dollar. Think I will get copper washers from a hardware store for future changes. I did not find a washer when I changed my oil. Did not find one in the old dirty drain pan but it might have gone with the oil when I emptied the drain pan.

They get stuck on the pan a lot, use a screw driver to pop them off if they do.

DO NOT ever put the drain plug on without one, it will leak.

Also if you want free washers walk into the shop at the dealership and ask a tech for some. I highly doubt anyone would not offer you some if you asked. They give them to us in a bag of 100. If they sell them for $.80 each they are making $80 off the bags they give to us for free! Dealership prices are absurd.
