Default Don't touch my car

I'm coming up on the 15,000 maintenance and I was wondering, what is the best way to keep the guys from washing it after they're through working on it? Reason being, I was at the dealership the other day for another vehicle, and I see some guy wiping down a car with a swirl-inducing dirty chamois. Also, at a prior visit to that one, I saw someone else drop the chamois on the ground and go right back to wiping down someone's car. What would be the best way to ask them in a nice way to not touch the paint? Even if there's grease/dirt on the car I would much rather wash it off myself. I was thinking a sticky note on the steering wheel or radio cover that suggest they not wash it. Any other ideas or dealerships in so cal that treat your car right?

I tell them when I drop it off not to wash it when service is completed. The Advisor makes a note and the "wash guy" is happy when I pick it up". They just drive it up front and park it.

Why would they wash it unless you asked? I wouldn't expect my dealer to be washing mine for maintenance.

If that's one thing our dealer does, I'd just say "no wash please" when you drop it off.

My dealer washes every car after all routine service. I learned this early on. I'm very meticulous and washed it before my first oil change. They rewashed (badly) my detailed car and from then on I have stopped them from doing so.

I would be kind of upset if mine did that... I'd be like "NOOOO!!! Don't touch my baby!!"

They got me the same way... I washed and waxed my baby before my first oil change. Sure enough they re-washed it after they were done and left it swirled and full of waterspot drips.

From now on I always request, "no wash please" and they're cool about it. Just less work for them.

I wish ym dealer washed my car. Although I clean it every weekend and thoroughly detail every month, it would be nice for someone else to do a quick wash.

I have always handwashed my cars, would be upset too if the dealer washed it after maintenance, especially if it was already clean. I will have to look into wether mine does this or not.

just be careful, you don't want to get labeled "difficult" and blacklisted by the scion dealers...LIke Elaine.

Out of curiosity, the 15,000 service includes: replacing air and cabin filter, tranny fluid, and what else??? cuz its 180 bucks!!!

They do it because a lot of people out there aren't as picky as we are. Those people view the free wash as nice "extra service". I would flip out if anyone but me washed my car, but many people could care less. A simple, friendly "No wash please" should do it.

I work at a dealership, simply ask them not to wash your car.

Besides the oil and filter...nothing else. Everything else is a visual check. Rip off IMO.

i have a new IS250 and its getting a new paint job, the guy who detailed the car at the dealer scratched the entire car when he was drying it, apparently he used a used towel (not a microfiber) it had dirt and rocks in it and it scratched the entire car, it looks like a brilo pad was taken to it, so that issue is present at every dealership.

Best part is I get to take it to my autobody guy, and the dealer is paying $7500.00 for a real paint job.....
4 coats of clearcoat, wetsanded and buffed....
No complaints here, plus i get a GS430 for a week and half as a loaner car.

I know of a dealership that washes car after maintenance by hand. That idea scares me, no one needs to wasah my car but me. I trust myself, not others. I don't even like getting maintenance done. After these three free oil changes, I'll do everything myself.

Plus, I need to get my rattle fixed... So four stops to the dealership and four sayings of "Do not wash my car."

instead of waiting in the waiting room with everyone else, i go and sit on one of the curbs outside of the service area. I just make sure they heed to my "please don't wash it" request. it also lets me see that they're not doing anything crazy with my car at the same time.
