Engine light on?
Over the weekend I was messing with my engine on my xB and look what happened. My engine light is on.
I have read in here some were how to turn the engine light off but can't find it. I have tried disconnecting the battier for 5 sec but that didn't work. O and the VSC and TRAC off lights are on. Am I just screwed or what? Please help.
well then no offense but that was your first mistake right there, buying one of those performance modules from ebay. Those are just a major rip off. And I think you probably are pretty much screwed, if you can't fix the problem yourself. They don't warranty stuff that was messed up by aftermarket products.

In conjunction with disconnecting the battery, are there any solenoids or fuses that I should pull out to reset the computer to get the VSC, TRAC off, Engine check lights off? Just disconnecting the battery for an hour does not seem to work. Are there battery backups for the computer and how long does it take for them to discharge?
all those lights turned on for me once when i disconnected the MAF sensor. they didnt turn off for a long time. it could probably be that. check the connection and reset the ecu.
it was only on for about 2 days. and that was because i didnt have my car on ,so the computer took long to reset itself. my dealer told me just to drive around or leave the car on and the lights should come off. if not, your gonna have to take it in to get serviced.
The lights have been on since Tuesday. But my drive to work is only about 5 mins. Maybe that's not enough time for the computer to check itself. I'll be driving it over the weekend more, hope the light turns off. If the lights don't come off by next week I'll probly turn it in and hope not to get dinged by the dealer.
All that "performance (ya...right) module" does is places a reistor that you can buy at any local radio shack somewhere along the wiring of the ECU...what it does is tricks your ECU into thinking that your intake is sucking in cold air, when in reality it is sucking in hot air...obviously this could present quite a few problems...your engine thinks that it is taking in cool air which it is not, which could result in the engine generally overheating...etc...So I'd be careful with such products...they might work now...but just think about how they are going to effect your engine in a few years...I would be skeptical about any perfomance mod that is that cheap and non-name-branded...
We all have made mistakes in our lives, but the thing to do is to learn from others experiences...not poke fun at someone else...because I can assure you that someone else will be back here with the same exact problem because he didn't care to read or ask of others experiences...
Best of luck justchico...

Thanks
. I am getting a refund for the module and the dealer is going to reset my ecu. I have learned my lesson and should have posted a question about the module on the forum before buying it. My xB runs great and you can't even tell I got into the wiring harnes.
