Has anyone used the California Duster?
Not if you use it to 'dust' the car... I suppose if you BEAT on it with the Duster it would do some damage, but I haven't tried that... :D
Seriously I'm on my second and my mum's on her third duster and neither of us has ever caused any damage. Be sure to follow the instructions and 'air out' the duster before first use to get rid of excess wax in it (that's what makes the dust stick to the duster - the wax treatment of the fibers).
Don't use it like a scrub brush, and if a light pass with the duster doesn't take off whatever's there, the car needs a wash to remove it. To just 'touch up' when it gets a film of road dust or pollen, though, the duster is great.

true swirl marks are tiny scratches in the clear coat caused by some sort of grit and some sort of rubbing. unless you keep your Duster in the kids sandbox and rub your car w/ it, you're not gonna cause swirl marks. perhaps what your seeing is the paraffin wax on the Duster being left behind because the Duster is fairly new or the car was too hot. but, a light dusting w/ an aged yet clean Duster won't hurt the finish a bit.
