i havent had that problem, but maybe i can help. Is it only at a stoplight. Like what RPM range is your car in when it does this. My suggestion would be to compleatly identify that it is your hood that is loose. If this is so then get a wrench and tighten the bolts that hold the hood on.

yeah ir happens when im just at a stop light. im thinking it may be those rubber thingy's or the hood is loose. i was thinking bout taking it to my dealer to have them fix it for free. I'm thinking too its because of a low idle. I know there is a TSB for a low idle.

Well took my xB to the dealer and they said the engine and hood were normal. they brought in 2 more xB's and put them by mine to match the sound and they said they were all the same. So I guess no real prob for me.

I had a similar problem in my xA. . . were you working on an intake or a battery by any chance?

I made a really stupid error and forgot to put one of the hoses back onto the clamps. Might be worth a check. I put the hose back in and the idle is purr-tastic.

Twist those rubber bump stops under the hood all the way up. Close the hood, and see how it looks. If the hood sites too high, then lower each evenly till it looks right. Your rattle should go away then. I had the same problem long ago, adjusted the bumpers, and now .... silence.
