when the gas lamp turns on how many miles or gallons of gas are left?

I've gotten off the freeway right when it turns on to fillup, and it usually has about 1.5 to 2 gallons left immediately after the light turns on.. for me that is safely (i.e. not freaking out about stalling out of gas completely) 40 to 60 miles which is about 1.5 gallons for me (xA) but you can calculate your own numbers as YMMV (your mileage may vary) by calculating a safety zone of having 1.0 to 1.5 gallons when that light turns on

Exactly what 2fixA said. The safety light is very conservative so don't freak out if you see the orange light.

On my xB, I've filled up right after the light goes on. For me, it always goes on after 9.5 gallons, so 2.5 gallons left.

yeah...the yellow light looks coo...i drive around with the light on purpose...

it's like my RPM indicator...lol.

but seriously, i've gone to L.A. from Irvine with the light on...and didn't stall...so i'm pretty sure u're safe for about 50 miles or so...

i get about 28 mpg i think...average between highway and city.

and note..i drive hard...

I can drive 40 mi. After the light is on and I’ve never run out. Pushed it to 55 mi.
And still made it to the gas station. I would guess at about 1.5- 2.0 gallon reserve on my xA.
