Default How to properly clean your MAF Sensor

It is very important that you clean this sensor periodically to maintain top performance of you vehicle. You cannot clean it with carburetor cleaner, brake parts cleaner, throttle body cleaner because they will damage the sensors hotwires. CRC came out with a product that is strictly only for the MAF Sensor whis is called CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner This page that I found in tomorrows technician explains how the MAF Sensor is a vital component to you vehicles air/fuel ratio....If you cant read it, PM Me and I'll let you know anything you need to know about this...

Fantastic, thanks for the info.

Is there a recommended mileage or time interval to do this?

Your MAF sensor is a very delicate sensor. Be careful with those little sensor wires in the MAF. Don't poke them with the spray tube or try to brush them clean. Just spray them down good, even a couple of times, to remove the grime.

As said, dont use brake or carb cleaner. You want an electrical cleaner.

As far as an interval goes, I say clean it everytime you change your air filter (every 10-12 months)….kill two birds with a single stone that way.

Thanks, I always wondered how to clean those suckers. I have one with over 300k on it and it's never been cleaned.
