Default JDM Turn Signal Mirror Covers

Greetings all!

I recieved my JDM turn signal mirror covers this weekend and wanted to know if anyone knows how to remove the Original glass mirror? These covers require that I drill a hole into my Original mirrors to run the wires and to do so I must remove the glass mirror or otherwise I may drill into the motor that adjusts our mirrors. Being the instructions are in Japanese, I'm afraid I'm doing it wrong. I can't get them out as per the instructions and afriad to break the glass mirror.

Thanks!

Default Mirror Covers

I did the install on this on my xB in early January. I also posted up a rough translation from the Japanese mounting instructions, which also includes how to get the factory mirror glass out. You can see the post here: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5416

Default Removing the glass

By the way, removing the factory glass was a pain... lol... just use a long flathead screwdriver and follow the directions. It is pretty stubborn, but you'll get it eventually. The bottom of the mirror has two spots where it snaps in. If you push the top of the mirror as far as it will go so the bottom edge is sticking out, you can probably see the two spots where you should use the screwdrier to pry it off. Don't forget to mask it off the bottom of the mirror housing fairly well to prevent scratching the paint. Once you get the bottom part popped out, you just have to patiently maneuver it out. The top part of the mirror is hooked in. The first one took me a lil bit, but once you know how they go in, the 2nd one will be easier. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other Q's.

Should anyone what to know how to remove their glass mirrors I finally figured it out. As stated in my post, I had troubles removing the glass mirror so that I could put on my new JDM turn signal mirror covers. A hole was needed to run the wires for the turn signal. I was doing it as per the Japanese instructions but couldn't get it off. It turns out I was doing it right but a bead of silicone was holding it in place. This bead of silicone had to be broken to remove the glass mirror.

Anyway, should anyone have to replace their glass mirrors here is how you do it.

Grab hold of the front bottom edge of the glass mirror and pull towards you. Once the bead of silicone is broken, pull downward on the mirror and it should pop right out.

I hope to have my new turn signals in by this weekend if it stops raining here.
