Default leaving wax on your car

Some people say that leaving wax on your car will kill the paint.
Others say leaving it on will provide more portection sacrificing looks.
However, the wax will dry and harden on the paint.

So what is the truth?

-How long are you talking about?

-Are you talking about newly applied wax that hasn't been buffed off and still has a white haze left on your car?

I would follow the bottles directions, I would think they (Meguiars, Mothers, etc.) know what they are talking about since they only specialize in that in that field and that is what their life is all about.

IMO I see no benefit from leaving the wax on longer than is needed after it dries. After it's dried, its dried. It's not going to move and seep into the paint to give it a better luster/deeper appearance. Only thing it might do is bake onto the paint and be a b!tch to remove if it sits in the sun too long.

^Right on... Also jigga, are you just trying to find a way to keep your lsp working for as long as possible? There are a lot of waxes and sealants available that last months or more, not to mention combining the 2, so that you will have lasting protection. I once saw a topic on autopia.org about your question, but can't seem to find it. Maybe you can post on autopia.org's forums, since they are the authority when it comes to car detailing. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.

Yea, if durability is your primary concern, then there are many great ways to do that.

Just go over and read on Autopia.org... lots of great info there. One possible combo that comes off the top of my head would be to clay+polish (if you need it) + Klasse AIO + a few coats of Collinite 845

That's pretty durable right there...

If you are that worried about protecting your paint just wrap the thing and preserve the paint indefinitely. LOL

Leaving dried unpolished wax on the paint will not harm it. When I went in the military, I made a crate for my motorcycle and covered its painted tank and fenders with paste wax without polishing off the residue. Three years later the residue poiished off nicely.
However, I would not leave dried wax residue on the finish of a car that is in use. Part of the wax's protection comes from the smooth buffed surface that repels water and allows dust to be wiped off. A layer of wax residue will not bead water and will attract and hold dirt.
