Default Quest: Anyone have faulty breaks?

My mechanic yesterday said he replaced brake calipers at 12,000 miles on a 2004 xb last week. He thinks there may be a defect. Anyone have problems?

Moved to M&CC...

And they're brakes, not breaks. Calipers, not calpers.

Maintenance and Car Care. It's a forum, like General xB is. This one is more specifically suited to your question.

No problems, but when I wash the car the rotors get wet and squeek a few times. I have also noticed the squeeking rotors in the morning when it is cold outside.

actualy mine are squeeking right now too and I have about 12,000 miles on mine. of course I noticed it at about 11,000. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong but apparently it is a problem. I'll have to call the dealer and see what they tell me.

That would be condensation or water spray on the rotors, which will rust them immediately, but will also come off in the first few feet of moving the vehicle.
