Quick oil question...
k, so i'm going to change my oil once i hit the 3k mark, but what should I use?
and also, is there any way to check if the factory oil is synthetic? someone said it was, but I doubt that it is.
thanks

If you really want to know you can get the oil tested, but it probably isn't worth it
Are you planning to change it at the 5k mark as well? Here's what I did:
I changed my oil as well, but it was about at the 2800ish mile mark. I got the oil filter from the dealer (YZZF1? the OEM one for our tCs), but got the 5w20 from discount auto parts... the $1.68 store branded oil.
Oil is oil unless you go synthetic... so it really doesn't matter. I went "cheap" because I'm going to change it again at 5k then proceed at normal intervals from then on out.
So, if this is going to count as your first *official* change (as in, you start changing regularly from here), then make a choice - dino or synthetic. If going dino, it doesn't really matter what oil you buy, so long as its the right weight (as you know).
Overall, though, its not a question of oil, but keeping up on your oil and filter changes.
