Default rpm spike

hey there im new to posting stuff so hopefully you guys car help me out. i have a 2008 scion tc and its got 36k miles on it so it shouldn't have many problems with it, but its been in and out of the shop and trying to figure out why it sputters and jumps around. when i try to step on it my rpm shoot up really fast and my speed just goes up as if i was only going half petal. then after a second it kicks in and will almost go back to normal. also it has hard shifts every once in a while. im really confused on what it would be. it was a cel for mass air flow and i replaced it and also has one for my bank 1 o2 sensor that i tried to replace but it mad it worse. so if anyone could help me out that would be great!

Sounds like something is slipping when accelerating. Auto or 5spd? Guessing auto. I'm guessing something is wrong with your trans. Maybe try having fluid replaced but I'm guessing it will be a small if any improvement.

As for your mileage...it's very easy to pull the gauge cluster and put in one with different mileage. Not saying that happened, but possible.

yea it a auto trans and gage cluster is original. ive been thinking about trying a fluid drain but i also didn't think it would do a whole lot. so what on the accelerator do you think is wrong?

I don't know a lot about an auto trans. They are a lot more complicated. I'm hoping someone with more trans experience can chime in. I think the slipping would mean one of the pieces that transfers power from crank to gears is worn out (the clutch in a 5spd)
