Default Solar Power battery charger?

so my 05 scion tc is still running like a champ, with the original panasonic battery that came with it from the factory (knock on wood). i've researched about that battery not being made anymore (is that true?)

but my main question is, does anyone use those dashboard mounted battery chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter? My buddy used to have one on his dash in his car, and it is just i suppose to give you a better piece of mind? if so is one Brand/Model recommended over another? any Wattage that I should be looking for in particular?

thanks!!

First thing is you need to know if your cig lighter is powered on when the car is off. If it is not, then the charger will do nothing (unless you wire it to the battery directly or a always hot wire under the dash).
