Default Taking tint off yourself

Does anyone know any type of tricks I can use to take the tint off my front windshield? I don't have to take it off the back or side windows, just the windshield.

Is it hard to get off with a razorblade?

I got my second ticket for it today and I have to remove it, even though I love how it makes the car look.

Any help or advise would be appreciated.

razor blade.. pull up an edge and yank!

and then water (slightly soapy) spray everywhere and use razor blade to scrape off all the crap.

Ok, if you want to have a bi**h of a time leaving the glue on the window, do it that way.

The correct way goes like this:

Get a windex cleaner WITH AMONIA IN IT.
Soak the window and cut a black trash bag to fit over it.
Squeegy it onto the tint keeping it soaked with the amonia spray.
Leave it out in the sun for about 1 hour.

After 1 hour:
Begin to peel the trash bag off and keep spraying the amonia spray.
Peel the tint up a little with the raxor blade continually spraying amonia on it.
(WEAR SOME SORT OF MASK OR HOLD YOUR BREATHE AND BACK OFF PERIODICALLY......AMONIA IS BAD TO BREATHE IN A LOT OF)
Be careful over any heated rear windshield lines b/c they will break and you are screwed.
Keep spraying the amonia on it to keep it soaked or it'll dry up again.

Use the windex afterwards to break up the glue and then go over it all with some sort of window cleaner (Eagle 1 20/20)

The windex has Mr. Clean on it (i think). It's a yellow or orange scented one. Get the orange b/c the yellow is nausiating.

Using just a razor may work on a sloppy install job, but for tint applied properly with the right adhesive, I have to agree with web's reply.
I tried using just the razor, but (and my tint was only on for two months) I ended up using a whole bottle of "GooBGone" to get the glue off.
It took me two+ hours just to do the two door windows.

PITA

It's going to be really hard for me to fit a trash bag over my front windshield. I don't know how that's going to work, but I'll try it.

It was installed professionally and it's been on there for about a year. It's lumar tint if that makes a difference.

Nah, the glue is the same, it's just the makeup of the tints that are different. Just cut big sections and keep it soaked....lay a towel on your dash to absorb any overspray

Do you think it's possible to get the trash bag over the tint on the windshield? I don't see how it would stay up without falling down. Maybe I'm not understanding exactly what you mean.

What you do is cut sections of the bag and spray them and the windshield (after laying that towel on the dash) and put the bag on the glass. Get a credit card or some sort of flat card and smear it on there.....it'll cling to it....spray it a little more and smear the card over it........it'll work

I don't think so, but a heat gun might from the outside. All you use the trash bag for is to trap the amonia against the tint and help the glass absorb as much heat as possible. You will still need the trash bag method but I guess a heat cut could help out a bit faster. Just dont get close to your paint for too long!!!

I removed tint myself once. It was a huge PITA. I ended up calling a local tint shop, explaining my situation and asked for tips. The guy chuckled and told me to mix soap with water in a spray bottle and just use a razor. It took a while. In the end, I wish I would have taken it to a tint shop, my time is worth more than the $35-50 it would have cost to paid someone to remove it.
