Toyota Ruined MY CAR!!!! ***UPDATE***
well, i would understand that the dealership doesnt know what is wrong with my car and just tell me to go to another dealership
but they are just blindly replacing parts that arent broken
luckily i'm under my 7yr/100k warranty so i dont need to pay for any of this
i'm not looking to own the dealership, i just want a new car to replace the one they broke
in reality, its not even alot of money i'm asking for...
all i ask is that they pay off my current loan for the car ($6000) and then give me a new car at the same 4.76% that i have right now
considerably, Toyota of Orlando would loose maybe $3000 or $4000 in sales, but it sure beats having to put $4000 in replacement parts that they "THINK" is fixing my car
i called channel 9 news and fox 35, they're gonna be staying in contact with me for the next few days
either way, myself being a avid scion supporter and a loyal scion owner, i dont think i deserve this mess
but, i'm not looking to own the dealership, i just want what i think i'm entitled to...which is a replacement car
toyota nearly killed me twice because they're not repairing a major flaw with the car, and i dont wanna risk my life or my family's life just because someone doesnt know what they're doing at Toyota
but i do appreciate everyones input, i really want all aspects of what fellow scion supporters think

i wanna see the guy from Dateline NBC's 'To Catch a Predator' go out there!
i tell ya, it would all be worth it to see that!
but legally, before any "problem solvers" can get involved, i need to get some more on Toyota of Orlando. Its good to know i have people on my side.

thats a great idea
ya kno, i dont have any problem with the sales department at Toyota of Orlando. They're honest people, especially the guy who sold me my xB a few years ago.
i know alot of people buying cars from there and having no problem
...but, they havent had to deal with the service dept yet.
btw: does anyone need to set-up an appointment with their dealership for service?
Toyota of Orlando never lets me set-up any appointments and they just kinda "get to ya when they get to ya" considering that their service drive is always packed.

I guess I should go re-read your initial posts... I could swear you had a problem with a skipping CD player to begin with.
If you think the sales departments are honest people... HAHA. OK...
Have you talked to Scion yet? Have they opened a case for you, and your issues?
When the Scion dealer in Charlotte, NC didn't reconnect my fuel line properly on a injector cleaning service, leaving me stranded at Target on a Sunday night, I called Scion. They opened a case and followed through the resolution.
Luckily nothing caught on-fire, and I was able to re-connect the fuel line properly and drive home.
But yeah, Scion followed the rest of the issues (replacing the fuel connection, cleaning the engine bay, etc) almost every single day.
What is their take on all of this? Corporate Scion, that is?
Also, I don't know this for a fact, but it's the service department that makes the profit for the dealerships... not the selling of the cars. I have a buddy who'se a master tech with BMW and he wouldn't even let his own M3 get worked on at the dealership... even the one he works at.
Needless to say he has a strong customer following, but he does the work right.
Did they replace your ECU? Maybe it's bad or something wasn't hooked up correctly. If you're still at the same dealership you must really be a masochist or something... the first thing I would have done is gone somewhere ELSE to have them repair my car.

well, the headunit wasnt playing any CD's
which its the 6-disc optional one ($595) and its under my platinum warranty so they told me to come in and they'll ship it out to Pioneer in Cali to have it fixed.
when they re-installed the cd player 3 weeks later, they must've done something else because the car hasnt run right ever since.
I insisted on installing the CD player myself, but the service manager says that because its a warranty issue, that the mechanic had to install it.
i'm only staying with toyota of orlando right now because its the closest to my home, and i just really wanna stick it to 'em. I want THEM to pay for the parts.
currently, its not being charged to Fidelity (my warranty service) so that means that Toyota of Orlando is eating the cost of everything. Which by now is probably over $1,000 in parts and labor.
and as far as i know, they replaced the ECU and all the sensors (or atleast, thats what they keep telling me). The receipt just says "Scion Computer"
Scion Corporate opened an investigation, aswell as Mike Kennedy, who is the regional manager for Scion. Mike Kennedy really is a great guy, considering he doesnt need to help me at all, but he's really getting himself involved.

Who has the car now? If its somewhat runable, take it to a auto zone or a advanced auto parts store, or someplace that can scan your computer to see what codes it has. Then you will have an idea what they fooled around with.
NO! do not take to any parts store for a diagnostics code. they will only be able to give a generic code. we are constantly replacing other parts because they cannot receive all the proper codes.
Well if that doesn't work ask around and see if anyone in your area has a scangauge 2 that you can use. It's a great little product it reads codes and clears them, plus like 20 other things it does. That would work also.
2nd update:
i got my car back today...
...and whoa!
they replaced the whole engine with a brand new 2007 1NZ-FE right off the assembly line. Since its a direct replacement, it was ordered by Toyota and has matching serial #'s and such.
not only that, but Toyota of Orlando had it sent out to a dyno-tuner who re-mapped the entire engine. He took a laptop along with him and boosted the injectors, the timing, and the shift points.
what does all that mean?
when i looked at the laptop software, the stock flywheel horsepower was 103 and the tq was 96.
after the new engine swap, and remapped codes, aswell as the new scion computer...
...the flywheel horsepower boosted upto 119 and tq upto 117.
i'll post pics of the original engine and the new one soon.
Toyota of Orlando realllly redeemed themselves after this one...
...i'll still never go back there again though

thanks guys
toll booth tickets are pending, but they will be eventually paid by the dealership
matching numbers meaning the VIN number says the engine was built in November of 2003, so the new engine has the same corrisponding number, but the last letter is an "R" for replacement.
i'll snap a pic of the serial numbers on the side of the block when i get a chance
in the end: was it worth it?
probably not, but for now, i'm satisfied

well, thats what the Toyota diagnostic laptop told me. It had a graph and showed the 103hp curve, and the 119hp curve.
He told me its the equivalent of putting a performance chip into your car, but this is internally controlled by the Scion computer. He adjusted the timing, injectors, and a few other things that made optimal horsepower.
problem is, i now only get 28 or 29 mpg. But its a very noticable driving difference. The Borla cat-back and AEM short ram really sound nice.
the car doesnt sound like a sewing machine under the hood anymore. Its more of a subtle throbbing. But then again, its a new engine.
ofcourse, that flywheel horsepower is what the internal computer is "thinking" it has. I'm sure if you took the engine out, and dyno'd the real flywheel horsepower, it might be around 110 or even the 108 that it's rated.
im sure the wheel horsepower is probably 100 or so. Before, i had it dyno'd with 15" wheels and i got only 87 wheel horsepower with the old engine.
