WAL-MART Oil changes
Well, after buying my xB from CarMax, the warranty requires me to get the oil changed at a "reputable" place, so while I was in Wal-Mart doing a little shopping, I notice the oil change prices, and decide to go ahead and get it done there. 1st time.... no problem. Well, since the 1st experience was good, I go back for the second. After pulling my baby in, I go in the store and hear the manager on the phone explaining to some poor person about how sorry he was that the tech jacked the car up and screwed up the frame. I immediately got that "oh ****" feeling, and began watching every move on my vehicle. Well, the guy finished, everything looks ok. I pay and they go to get the keys. The guy yells out, it's done but I can't move it. Says he's sorry, but he can't drive a manual tranny. I'm quick to say, that's ok, I'll get it (especially after what I just heard)
So I'm pulling straight out, and at the very end, the car feels like it hit the guide rails with the inside of the right rear tire. Nothing's broke, but I will not be back there for another oil change! (not to mention what may be wrong with that 18" Enkei.

I usually do all my maintenance myself, but they would not accept that. (said it would void the warranty) I have to have my oil changed and documented every 3,000 miles, or my 36,000 mile warranty is void. My dad has never had a problem there, and the first time was fine, so the second time there wasn't a second thought. From now on, I guess I'll have to pay the rip-off prices at CARMAX, so I can blame anything that happens on them. By the way, CARMAX oil change=$30+. I'll be glad when I can do it myself. Geez, it only took 3.9 liters. What, $14 max????
Let me also add that: the first change, the tech was a Scion fan, owned a tC, and was very careful, knowing what he was working on. I made sure he was there this time, but wasn't lucky enough to get him to do the service. Also, my box is not lowered at all, so there should have been no scrub, I just went out and saw where the scrub happened now that it's getting daylight. It was on the axl part where the coils are (on the bottom) So no harm done, but just letting you guys know to be aware if you choose to have your service done there.

Pretty lame that you can't just show your receipts for your oil and filter, they make you have a certificate of compliance from the service centers to keep the warranty in effect. 30,000 miles to go until I can do it myself. (which I've been doing for 20+ years with all my vehicles)

just do it yourself. took me 10mins with the rite tools...the first oil change is going to be a _____ since the stock oil filter is practically welded on...-_-
my my tC i used mobil 1 with a mobil 1 filter. cost me about $30 for everything. not bad they normally charge around $60 for that service.
btw hope u know people working on your cars arent car mechanics just normal people...

If you can't do it yourself, find a local independant or go to the dealer.

Wal-mart sucks. a quick lube shop is good. Carmax cant make you go anywhere for an oil change. if you buy your own oil and filter and have reciepts dated and document mileage, you will not void warranty. you may be able to take that to court if you need to fight it.
oh yeah i just got fired too. so dont go to Wilmington NC and get your oil changed at Prolube.
the price of oil has gone up so expect to pay out the @ss. an oil change at my place, Full service was starting at 37.99.
