I would keep it if you plan to keep the car beyond 3-years/36,000-miles. You probably pay more for health insurance every year than the warranty cost you and it lasts a lot longer

I'd keep it. Its not going to change your payments at all, and if anything was to go wrong your going to be glad you have it.

I don't want to pile on here, but I am a true believer in the Toyota Platinum Plan. I don't think you can beat it for the money. Of course, if you're not going to own it 6 or 7 years, it isn't worth it, but otherwise, its a good value. Heck, one AC compressor will cost nearly double the cost of the entire warranty.

From past experience (though not with Toyota) , you can get in on the extended warranty program at any time, so although it costs more buying into it later (say, at the end of the original 3-yr warranty), it is usually not that much more. This way, you should have a better idea if you ware going to hold onto it long term 3 yrs from now, and if so, buy the extended plan then. While looking at a white xA yesterday (Ourisman Toyota in Chantilly) for my wife, I was told that it might cost about $100 more to buy it later. Sounds good to me if that is true.

my salesman at Deland Toyota said it was $300 more after the first year. i figure i would wait till the last year of the warranty then get it then. no sense of paying for something 3 years before it goes into effect.

if you think about it, even if you dont keep the car for more than 3 years, the platinum warranty might add to the resale value later on down the road

I got the platium warranty also. I was looking for a place to post my question, but I hope you don't mind here..........I got to the 15,000 mark and was going to the dealer ship to change my oil and there's a 15000 mile point maintaince schcedule.
Well on this check list : (first the things I think are unimportant)
Visually inspect brake lining
Inspect driveshaft boots
Inspect exterior interior lights
Clean battery terminals and install anti corrosion pads
Check transmission and differential fluids
Check steering linkage and gear box
Check tire wear and pressure
Check air conditioning (its winter time now, haven't had car through a summer yet)
Inspect exhaust system
Inspect brakes
Check belts and hoses
Check ignition

(maybe need)
Install automatic transmission conditioer
Install MOA oil additive
Install 44k Fuel system cleaner

Total Cost $217.88

My choice was not to pay for these services, just my free oil change, and 19 dollar tire rotation.

The Question------Will skipping this maitence schedule void my warranty or not? Cause I can visually inspect everything here with out it costing 217.88 know what I mean? Comments please

in working as ASM with Toyota for last 4years, i would rec. extended warranty to anyone who
a.) plans on keeping the car for 6/7 years
b.)puts or plans on driving alot of miles on the vehicle

it comes in handy when u least expect it to, and ive seen it save ppl hundreds of dollars in repairs
