waterspots
i was washing my car the other day and after i dried the car... the waterspots on all the windows, front windshield and back window wont come off... i tried 3 differernt kinds of window cleaner and the water spots are stuck there... i even rewashed the car over again... anyone know how to get rid of these waterspots?
I just came back from a four month tour in Kuwait to an xA with nasty water spots on all my glass.
I tried Invisible Glass, vinegar and water, CLR, and even Lime-Away! None of this stuff worked after several attempts! My water spots were on there good that it would take more than just mere window cleaner to take off.
I was polishing up the Injen intake when I figured I'd use a little of it in a small spot on my driver's window where the water spots were nasty. When I say nasty, my windows were so bad that reflections were blurry. After a minute of rubbing in the polish and buffing it out, the spots were still there but not as prominent.
After a while of searching the internet at work today, I found the Spot-X website. It's an organic powder made from shells that you mix with water and scrub your windows. I drove out to Home Depot and picked up a few bottles @ $5.95 each and one of their cleaning pads.
Once I got home, I mixed up the paste and went to town on those water spots. It takes a little work but after the first application and buff-out, those spots were gone! I did two more applications for good measure and the glass is sooo smooth. I need to take some pics of the passenger side when I start tomorrow. I have one of those California squeegez and I watered down the polished driver window and the spotted rear window and squeeged both. Driver's window made no sound at all when I drug the squeegee on it... I squeegeed the rear window and it sounded like I was dragging rocks down the window. lol
I may wait to do the passenger side because I ordered some glass polish from Zaino (sp?) and I can use it on my buffer (can't use Spot-X with a buffer). But, if you're got spots that aren't coming off with cleaners, your glass made need to be polished.

Sounds like Spot-X accomplishes the same function as a good glass polish... glad you got it to work out for you man
I have these water spots on my glass roof, but strange thing is it doesn't show up unless you go over it with something wet. By this I mean, for example, spraying Invisible Glass on it, and then wiping it off... that temporary wet spot will reveal the water spots. Once it dries, the water spots are then pretty much invisible
its sorta weird, but I'm going to try vinegar and water next time I wash the car

Anyone try a Mr. Clean magic eraser? Sounds like it would accomplish the same thing, and it's easily available and reletively cheap.
Personally, I find that the scrubbers at most gas stations will get the water spots out if I apply a little pressure when I scrub... and they are usually just a nylon mesh sponge with water that has something to reduce surface tension.
