Default What went wrong? Polish/Wax

Yesterday I decide to polish/wax my car. I have a 07 BCP. I purchased the 3 step Meguire's Deep Crystal System, Some terry cloth applicators and some microfiber towels. To make a long story short. I now have hexagonal swirl marks all over my baby. I don't know what went wrong. I only had a few swirl marks before. Now they are on the entire car. Dang...

Could it be that there is still wax on the car? Wax that hasn't been removed could actually appear like scratches. If not, maybe you applied too much pressure? maybe you were stingy with the wax? just hypothesizing...

I'm not sure if Deep Crystal has an abrasive components... I thought it was only a chemical polish system.

Anyway, are they swirl marks or hazing? Did it happen after polishing or after waxing?

If after polishing, then you didn't buff enough (you didn't break down the polish), so when you wiped it off, you basically scratched the paint since it wasn't fully broken down yet.

If it's after the wax, then you just didn't buff off the wax haze. Just put on another coat of wax and buff. Wax takes care of dried on wax haze.

If it is wax, it will be fairly tough to remove after drying for more than a few hours. Wet it down with some detail spray, or at least some water before trying to wipe it off.

The first problem I see was with the use of terry cloth wax applicators. They scratch the delicate Scion paint. I use a micro fibre pad on my orbital buffer to apply the wax. Then remove it with a washed (never new) micro fiber towel.
Did you do this in the shade? Did you wash and dry the car PRIOR to using the 3 step process?
Scion paint is basically soft a$$ed crap!!! NO LIE!
Everything that comes into contact with it unless done just right will leave some sort of scratch or haze.
My advise to you is have either a body shop or professional detailer assess the exact level of damage done and recomend the proper fix to bring the paint back to better than new. It may just need to be machine polished and re-waxed.

FYI, I've been detailing cars for 25 years plus.
